Hi, I'm Mary Jo McKinley. The Cluff family is actually in my husband's
family line.
My husband's paternal grt grandmother was Minnie Malinda Cluff. Her parents
were
Thomas Cluff and Margaret Peacock. Minnie was born in Cynthiana, OH on
12/11/1858. She died in Fayette Co. OH on 08/21/1950. Her husband was Thomas
Harrison Moss whose parents were Rial Moss born in Scotland and Susan Flick
from Virginia. Minnie and Thomas were the parents of my husband's grdmother,
Margaret Bell Moss. She married Chester Glenn McKinley of Washington CH, OH.
I have other info, but don't want to muck up this email with more confusion
than
I already have. Thanks, Mary Jo McKinley
Hi Nancy and fellow listers......My block is still FIDELIA (CAROLINE)
CLOUGH/CLUFF born 1818 in "supposedly" Charlotte, Chittenden Co.,
Vermont.......She married RICHARD E. LOOMIS in 1837 in either Appleton,
Outagamie Co., Wis or in Vermont......much conflicting
info...........she was at least half Native American...... Have never
found her parents or any link with the New England Clough/Cluff
family......She died in Wisconsin in 1844....Juanita

Hi Listers,
My ggg grandmother was Ann CLUFF, who married Thomas
COCKFIELD in Heworth,
Durham, England on June 8, 1799. Heworth is in northern Durham, across
the Tyne River from
Newcastle, Northumberland.
I don't know who Ann's parents were, but would like to find
out. A sister may have been
Jane CLUFF, who married Robert BURNUP in Heworth on September 29, 1800.
Ann and Thomas
remained in England. Descendants either remained in England, or went to
Australia or Canada.
Thanks,
Dave Thompson
Alberta, Canada

Cluff, Hore, Browning, Brydon;
I looked through my husbands file and could not find anything that
relates to you. My husbands line is in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints or Mormons. They had many polygamy families so it would be hard
for me to really tell. You can go on the Church's web sie <LDS.org>, or go
to a Family History Center. The web site can tell you were there is a
Center close to you. His family is well documented. Sorry I am not of much
help.
My brother-in-law claims that we do match up with this DNA test which
breaks up a road block that we had. The line now can go across the sea. My
Husbands Grandfather is Millard"K" Cluff b 1900 whose father is William K.
Cluff b 1871 whose father is Benjamin Cluff/Clough b 1830 and his father is
David Cluff/Clough b 1795 who brought the family from England.

Can anyone provide me with additioal information on Maud Elizabeth Cluff who married my great grandfather Henry Hore in England. My maternal grandfather was Lawrence Browning Hore (b.Albion hill, Loughton 8 Dec 1889; d Buenos Aires, Argentina June 1952) Thanks
Folks!
The traffic has been extremely slow on this list. We've
had some new subscribers lately. Why don't we have a
Roll Call and explain how we are related to the CLUFF
surname and where we might have a roadblock in our research.
I'll start out with me.
I'm Nancy Carolyn Cluff Siders. I was born in southern Ohio
a long, long time ago. ;)
My parents were David Newton McBride CLUFF (1902 OH - 1988 OH)
and Marian Inez McKAY (1906 KY - 1867 OH).
Grandparents were James Henry CLUFF (1850 OH - 1904 IN) and
Adelia SCAMMAHORN (1871 OH - 1904 IN).
Great grandparents were Charles C. CLUFF (1815 KY - 1890 OH)
and Susannah WASHBURN (1811 OH - 1858 OH).
My roadblock is Charles C. CLUFF. As far as I can ascertain,
he arrived in Highland Co., Ohio about 1835. On the 1880
census, he states his father was born in MD and his mother
in KY. He may be related to a Parnell/Purnell P. CLUFF who
lived just across the border in Pike County, Ohio. It is
not known who Parnell CLUFF's parents were either.
I have traced a Reuben CLUFF who married Catherine HENTON in
KY in 1811 to Adams County, Ohio. Reuben may be Charlie's
father.
A DNA test recently did not match up my family with the Welsh
Clough, New England Clough, John Clough Society, Kentucky Clough,
Alabama Clough nor the Maryland/Delaware Clough branches! I'm
beginning to think he either changed his name to CLUFF or he
truly climbed out from under that infamous rock! ;)
I would LOVE to find more relatives of Charlie or Parnell and
share our research!
Later...Nancy
