Nancy ------- PS ---- what time period are you researching????
Fidelia and Richards son, HOMER E. LOOMIS was born in Wisconsin, settled
in Philadelphia after the Civil War and some of his descendents landed
up in New Jersey where I was born......I now live in
Colorado.............Juanita
Nancy............Do you know if there is any Indian in your family?
Lots of times when an ancestor is impossible to find, it turns out they
were native.......My gggGrandmother, FIDELIA CLOFF/CLUFF/CLOUGH was
native..(all or part?) She married RICHARD E. LOOMIS in 1837 in
Vermont ( or maybe Wisconsin as LDS had one date and two different
locations)....I have searched and searched for her under all three
spellings that have been used for her......I always thought she was from
one of the Iroquois tribes or maybe even Abenaki----but no luck in the
search....Searched Wisconsin---nothing......Then found some 5th cousins
who were also descended from them and their family stories had her being
Cherokee....At first I thought that this was totally impossible------but
maybe not--because I did find some Loomis people going South into
Virginia or the Carolinas.....so I suppose it is within the "realm" of
possibility...........but I also have hit the famous "brick
wall"...........Juanita
