Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi Bill,
I will await the package, I gave them a credit card, so that should speed
it up a bit. We shall see when we are supposed to.

Of course *any* direct line Cloyes male who is interested in testing,
regardless of lineage, will certainly be welcomed at any time.
As always I will be glad to answer any questions anyone may have.

P. S. I look forward to also discuss the ramifications of mtDNA (female

The Y-DNA (male) and mtDNA (female) situations are best dealt with under

The DNA is collected by you - using a couple of cheek swabs sent to you
by FTDNA. In fact I was just notified today of an explanatory video one
of the other surname administrators has created and placed on You Tube
that shows everything involved in full detail - I just watched it myself
this morning -
go to : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN07Adpu7Bs
and you can view the whole process - it is really quite easy and simple
to do in the comfort of your own home at your own leisure.
I highly recommend opting for the 37 marker Y-DNA test. It is
definitely the best bang for the buck. Coupled with the 67 marker and
Deep Haplogroup testing I have had done with my cousin's sample there
should be no need for you to do anything further.
We could be well on the way to tying our two lines back to James Cloyes
(1) b. 1678/79 through his two sons John b. 1707 and James b. 1710.
Time will tell!
If you wish later to extend your Y markers or order any advanced tests
the FTDNA lab securely stores your DNA sample for at least 25 years so
it is always available if you decide to do so. If for any reason the
lab needs more of your sample another kit is sent to you at no charge.
To join the Cloyes Group Project click on the URL I provided in my post
below and then scroll down to the Y-chromosome DNA test section and
select 37 marker Y-DNA and proceed to the next page where you give
address, email, phone number and other info so that the lab can
precisely identify you - then proceed to the payment page where you can
select to pay by credit card or invoice method - at which point you will
be told the sample test kit will be mailed to you next day.
I have seen many cr/cd payments go through without a hitch and it
results in the test sample being processed a couple of weeks sooner than
the invoice method. Time for your results to appear will be about 6 to
8 weeks after your kit is returned to FTDNA.
If you have any further questions please feel free to ask away.
Welcome aboard!

Hi Bill,
My brother Tom had done a lot of leg work tracing family history. My
grandfather was Raymond Thomas Cloyes in Cleveland Ohio and Tom had traced lines
to France also. How do I get blood or whatever to have tested and loaded
to Cloyes line Project?
