Hello all,
*IF* our genealogy trails are correct Jim Cloyes and my Cloys cousin
will be connected as brothers John Cloyes b. 1707 and James Cloyes (2)
b. 1710. These men are said to be sons of James Cloyes (1) b. 1678.
*IF* our Y-DNA matches and pedigrees confirm the above noted
relationship the immediate *primary goal* of the Cloyes Y-DNA Project
should be to seek out any living direct line male descendants of male
*ancestors* of James Cloyes (1). This approach will advance the
confirmation of our generally accepted paper trail backward in time for
all Cloyes lines and hopefully position us to start seeking relatives in
England and/or France.
Of course *any* direct line Cloyes male who is interested in testing,
regardless of lineage, will certainly be welcomed at any time.
As always I will be glad to answer any questions anyone may have.
Bill Harvey
P. S. I look forward to also discuss the ramifications of mtDNA (female
direct line maternal) testing and research for any of our female Cloyes
descendants who may be interested.
The Y-DNA (male) and mtDNA (female) situations are best dealt with under
separate discussions.
