Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Been awhile but I'm still out here. Not doing much genealogy because of lots of other 'life' stuff going on. Anyways..
I have seen Cloice, and Clayes. You find Clayes on lots of documents for Peter's lines in the 1700s.

Jim and all,
I'll reply off list with more specifics for you Jim but want the other
list participants to know that a Y-DNA project should have male
participants far removed in known relationship to develop meaningful
comparisons and useful data early on. Testing brothers, sons-fathers,
etc does not generate the kind of info we are looking for in regard to
200 - 500 year-old connections.
Also, since spelling of names is quite variable both within and between
our directly related families *all* variations of the surname CLOYES
should be allowed in the DNA testing program. Following are a few I can
think of offhand:
CLOYES
CLOYS
CLOYSE
CLOIS
CLAYS
I would appreciate hearing of other spellings that researchers have
found over the years.

Hi Bill,
OK, I am up for testing here. Do we need a blood sample taken and processed
and how do we do that cost effectively? Cool! The only other spelling I
have seen was Cowes and I sense that was more of a gramatical misspelling that
real.
Jim
Hi Bill,
Write me at _ARRS37(a)aol.com_ (mailto:ARRS37@aol.com) and we can see what
DNA work could be started. I am James Raymond Cloyes, son of Thomas Brown
Cloyes and Grandfather Raymond Cloyes from Cleveland. Brother To has done work
to trace our heritage to Peter of Cloyes. There are two cities outside Paris
named Cloyes. That is the basics and if we take DNA form a few of us, look
at links, maybe we discover some new data.

Good afternoon, Hugh, and all,
Well I can go along with wishing all a prosperous and productive 2007.
I also am doing fine and hope to continue doing so for a few more years
anyway.
A while back I proposed starting a Y-DNA study for the Cloyes clan but
it was not answered - even once, so I dropped it.
Seems like it would be a good idea to get the basic footprint of Cloyes
DNA established in order to help trace back to England and maybe even
France if lucky. But then I am biased in favor of what a DNA study can
do for our research efforts in the long run...............

Hi everyone,
Here is wishing you all a very good 2007. I am doing fine and hope to see
some activity on this site again this year. I am sure there are something
we all need more info on.
