Just when I decide to put my genealogy searching on the back burner because
there is too much other stuff to do, this quiry about Abigail Cloyes comes
in.
Looked on my family file and sure enough, Peter Cloyes b 1640 and Hannah
Litefield have a daughter Abigail Cloyes before 1677. I have her married to
William Waters.
Source is "New England Marriages Prior to 1700 Taber-Zalleth NE + IGS GR
929.374 Found in Santa Clara Library Genealogical section." Santa Clara,
California.
Recorded as 1676 or 1677 Chase in VR
Mar int July 7, 1696 Boston Framingham
I don't have anything more on this family.
I have another Abigail Waters b 1702, daughter of Richard Waters & Martha
Read. This Abigail married Samuel Dudley.
Also have an Abigail Waters b 1683 daughter of John Waters & Sarah Tomkins.
Another Abigail Waters b 1645, daughter of Richard Waters & Rejoice Plaise.
She married William Punchard.
Another Abigail Waters b 1677, Daughter of James Waters & Mary Stalworthie.
Also have Abigail Waters, b 1714, Daughter of Daniel Waters and Mary
Cloice/Cloyse.
I'll let you sort it all out. Let me know it you see anything that seems to
make sense.
Looking for any information on these people, especially their descendants.
Luther Cloyes, Daniel Cloyes, Richard Sanger, Nathaniel Hemmenway, Joseph
and Urial Jennings and Robert Eames all migrated from Framingham and
Sherborn, Massachusetts to Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire.
After living in New Hampshire briefly, they joined a number of Fitzwilliam,
Westmoreland, and Marlborough, New Hampshire residents and moved to
Whitestown, New York (this town was later named Utica) shortly after the
American Revolution.
Daniel and Luther Cloyes and Robert Eames were brothers-in-law, Uriah
Jennings was a cousin of the Cloyes brothers.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!!

Okay all you Cloyes sleuths. Who is the grandchild of Peter Cloyes, b. 1640
named in this passage from his will; "I will to my well beloved Grand
Daughter Abigail Waters forty shillings to be paid untoher when she shall be
of age and to be paid in money or goods att money
price"?
I do not have a child of Peter marrying any Waters - but I do have a Mary
Cloyes, child of Thomas Cloyes b. 1656 (brother to Peter), marrying Daniel
Waters. Does anyone know if this has been proven?
Peter also had a daughter Mary of marriageable age and in fact born the same
year as the daughter of Thomas Cloyes.
I have the marriage of Mary Cloyes and Daniel Waters producing a child
Abigail Waters but not until 1714 - Peter's will was written in 1708, so
this could not be the same Abigail Waters as the one in the will.
Any ideas?
