Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
There are several around the web, and since I'm forwarding this to the
Cloyes maillist, I would ask that whoever does have one please reply to
jacobsm(a)hotmail.com.
Stephanie you probably have the closest information to the Moffet/Muffet
family here, care to take a stab at it?

Just wanted to wish everyone on the list a very Merry Christmas, and a
prosperous New Year.
Just renewed my subscription to Rootsweb, so now we have 25M of storage
space on their server that we can use. Also am able to have 4 maillists, so
I've requested one for the Gere family which is unused at this time. They
have a new feature which is called GenConnect Surname Boards. What that is
is still a mystery to me, but I'll dig into that and see what it's all
about. Might be fun!
See you all later,
Tom
Thanks Steve. Was checking to see what her phone number was but she must
not be listed as her name and address didn't come up on a white pages
search. Is it possible she was the wife of Eugene H. Cloyes in San Marcos,
California?
Thanks,
Tom

I attended that reunion with Grace Gary. She and I are descended from James
Cloyes. He had moved from Massachusetts to Tennessee primarily in the Union
City area. Grace has been very active with genealogy for several years. She
will share all of her information.
I met a lady at the reunion from California who was working on a book, but I
remember her name as Harriet. I may have misunderstood.
The lady in California was only including the male descendants at that time,
so she was not interested in putting Grace in records or any other female.
Something about the names changing with marriage or what ever.
Hugh Cloyes
Just got an e mail from someone who was in contact with Henrietta several
years ago and hadn't heard from her for many years. He says "the book has
been too much for her but she is still working on it." She also mentioned
someone named Grace Gary who is preparing a book on James Cloyes, Penelope
and descendants. Henrietta said there was a family reunion she attended
with Grace. Thought I would pass this info along.

Stephanie,
Good to hear from you again, been a while.
This might be as good a time as any to reiterate that to reply to the list,
you need to click on "reply to all", since the rootsweb server doesn't
include this address in the "from" position.

I would like to see a copy of her work, and compare it to what we've put
together here.

Grant,
By all means, please do write her and keep us posted with how the
correspondence turns out. I remmeber her from several years ago, before I
got bitten by this genealogy bug, and have lost all contact info for her.
Do you know if she has a computer and is online? If so she would be welcome
to join this maillist and get her info updated, along with our own.

I have located a Henrietta Cloyes in California that has evidently done
quite allot of research into the Cloyes name. I believe that she has
traced the family back to Peter Cloyse.
My father was digging through his attic and found a brief synopsis and
questionnaire sent by Henrietta in about 1982. You may have heard of
her. She seemed to be familiar with a few of the names that I mentioned
(Tom and Hugh). I intend on writing her after the holidays as she says
she has her hands full right now.

Hi Cloyse Boys and Girls:
First of all, I want to thank Edith (edith.bartley(a)worldnet.att.net) for
placing my pontification on the CLOYSE mailing list. It is greatly
appreciated. I would have never of thought of doing so.
As for Mehitable, I don't know whether anyone knows or will ever know
whom her parents are except those that have passed through the veil. I
have a hand written manuscript pertaining to the M*FF* (MOFFATTs) with
LEARENS (or something similar) annotation over Mehitable's name. I do
not know who wrote or annotated the manuscript. I have heard that
Mehitable's maiden could have been M*FF* as well as CL*Y** along with
all their variant spellings. So there we are, a grand Lady we really
don't know, but would like to.
Is there anyone out there that can peruse the records of Maine, New
Hampshire, or Northeast Massachusetts and see if there is a woman with
the given name of Mehitable and a surname that would fit those mentioned
above. I would hope her surname was CL*Y**, M*FF**, etc., it would make
things simple.
I will check Essex County VR again and see if I could have missed her.
If we all put our heads together maybe we can tear down this brick wall.
Thanks for your patience and diligence.
