Message Board Post:
I have a newspaper clipping of African American Thomas Claude or Cloyd attending the Gray Rural School in 1918-19 in Kansas. In the 1920 Marena Twp, Hodgeman Co., Kansas census, he is living with James Grabbs, 64, mulatto and his wife, Netti, 32, black. Thomas is listed as a board, age 13 from Kentucky. In 1915 Kinsley, Edwards Co, Kansas, there is a Thomas Cloyd, age 8, black, living with Mariah J. Winchester and a bunch of kids with different last names.
It is a really cool photo, if anyone is related.
