Your ancestor, Michael Cloyd (1735-1807) was brother of my David Cloyd...I wonder if you are aware that there is a log cabin in Amsterdam, Virginia that belonged to Michael Cloyd & it was purchased by a New Yorker who hauled that log cabin 2 miles to Fincastle, VA...It became a store..I stopped by but it was closed on Sunday...It was 5 years ago..That log cabin is preserved well...The story about it was published in a local newspaper sent to me by an internet user..

I have some info on a Mattie Bell (Cloyd) Wood born September 9, 1884 in KY, who in 1911 married Marion Columbus Wood. She had many siblings and two of them were named Ida Cloyd and Birtha D. Cloyd. I have info on Mattie's parents and her great grandparents. If you think this is who you are looking for, please email me. Will help if I can.

Tami, I have heard from two people who seem to have quite a bit on the Cloyds, one a David Cloyd of Montgomery Co, VA, which was once a part of Augusta Co. Her e-mail is Maryte.Dyess(a)gallaudet.edu; the other is MihnBu(a)aol.com. I don't have anything that sounds like what you're looking for, but stay in touch. Something might show up.

Does Anyone Have Info On Where He Went or May Have died? Also Trying to Trace the Roots Into Ireland and Scotland so Any Info On that Would Be Helpful Thank You
Unproven, but strongly suspect that this man's parents are David CLOYD who mar. Margery MARSHALL 12 Mar 1793 in Lincoln Co. KY (Kentucky marriages to 1850 comp. by Jordan R. Dodd and Assoc. Ancestry.com database), because John (above) named his first son by Susanna BOATMAN David, he named another son Marshall. Hope this helps others and I'd be glad of any more information on this line.
Thanks for your answer to my James Cloyd message. I have run into the information that you listed, but I haven't been able to connect my James Cloyd and his sisters to it. I think he was born around 1740, and it certainly seems that he would be related to one of the brothers who show up in southern VA. Do you have info on all the descendants?

I am descended of James Cloyd of Ireland, whose birthdate was 1680. He came to New Castle Co, PA in 1730. He died in 1769 in Chester Co., PA. This Scotchman said to have been at the Siege of Londerry (sp?) when he was 9 years old. It is said he would often lecture the young folks, his grandchildren, on wastefulness and tell them of the privations endured by the besieged in 1689. Came to America with him was his 2 sons, James, Jr. (1707-1803) and David Cloyd (1710-1764). David Cloyd (my lineage) and Margaret Campbell's children were James, David, Jr., Michael, John, Elizabeth, Margaret, Mary, Joseph. Margaret was killed by Indians. David died in Botetourt Co, VA.
If you don't have this information, please let me know.
