A fellow researcher and I are trying to find living descendants of the Clower family who lived in the area of Nottingham called Sherwood or Basford in the 1800's. We are at the beginning of our search here, so not all of the "facts" that I have entered below may be accurate, but if anyone recognises these people, then we would love to hear from you.
There were 2 main Clower patriachs - George Clower born 1857 in Nottingham married Selina Lewis in 1881 and was originally a market gardener. The family then opened a carriage and forge business on the Mansfield Road in Sherwood.
Richard Clower was the other patriach. He was born around 1854 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire and his wife was called Jane. He owned a grocers and haulage firm in the Arnold area of Nottingham, and went on to become an undertaker.
I have not found a family link between these 2 men yet.
