Hi all,
I need some help. I'm trying to join the DAR with Patriot Jonathan CLOWER, my 3rd gr-grandfather. I need documentation that will show the children of his son, James Lawrence Samuel Butts CLOWER and wife, Fatha Ann COKER. My ancestor was their daughter, Martha A. (Mattie) CLOWER. The DAR already has the info on Martha's sister, Mary Jane CLOWER, who married John Alexander HOGUE. I just need to document that Martha and Mary Jane were sisters. This has been harder than it should be, it seems.
Does anyone have any documentation or any ideas that would help? The only census that I can find showing both sisters living with their parents is the 1860, and the census-taker just used initials.
Thanks,
Susan Hudspeth

Hi Susan,
Both Mary Jane and Martha are listed (with others) as the children of
Jonathan Clower on pages 9 and 10 of
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/f/l/o/Amy--B-Flowers/ODT9-0009...
Reference numbers are also given. This is a magnificant record, the
gift of Amy Flowers. Hope it helps.
Regards,
John

I'm not sure if there is a TN connection. However, some did move to IN so that's sort of on the way. Do you have GEDCOM database?

Most of my GA Clower info is on paper. I've never been able to tie them into the VA line that I come from.

Hi. I have posted regarding the name Julia Clower. of TN. I have recently learned her parents names were Daniel and Martha W. Clower, and her siblings names were Ella, William A., Martha, Benning M., Daniel M., Joseph R. and Nancy E. Clower.
They lived in Athens, GA. and Martha later moved to Fulton Co. GA. where she owned a boarding house. She also owned property in Athens. Julia did marry Samuel Patterson and move to TN. but two of her brothers were there also -- Benning M. and Joseph R. This was the year 1884. In this same year, William A. Clower was in Ft. Worth TX.,
Martha Clower also had a granddaughter Nancy Rowena Stark of Jackson Co. GA. Whether this a married name , I don't know.
This is my sister's paternal line and I am just as eager to find "cousins" for her as she will be. Thanks, Dana

Hello Mike,
I am looking for any Klauer/Clauer's from Germany.
The ones in my line came from the Palantinate, near Permassens. Several extended families emigrated together, including Knerr and Sprau. In 1836 or 37 they with settled in/ and around N. Ohio (Sandusky, Toledo, etc...)
Given names include Paulus/Paul, Elizabetha, and Phillip. Other likely names are Katherina, Jacob, Daniel, Johanns/ John, and George.
