My great-grandfather, James B Clow, worked in the mines in Colorado (outside of Trinidad) for about 9 years.
In March of 1902, according to the mining company newsletter "Camp & Plant":
J.B. Clow and family left Engle last week for their old home in Kansas. Mr. Clow has been working in the mine here for about nine years.

He is not in the Trinidad city directory in 1902, 1904, 1905, 1907, and 1909.
He is in the Trinidad city directory in 1910 and 1912, listed as working for "C & S Ry"
He had a daughter, Jean Clow, (age 2 in 1910), who is listed as being born in Colorado in the 1920 and 1930 census.
(the 1910 census is confused about birthplaces for this family; with stuff crossed out)
I'm trying to figure out where he went in Kansas.
I've started looking in the 1905 Kansas census, but haven't found anything yet.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
