He's in the 1870 census in North Sewickley, Beaver, Pennsylvania, living with his father Milton Adams Clow (1835-1900), and his father's second wife Cecelia P. McCready (1841 –), having been born in "Penna"
He's in the 1880 census in Pulaski, Lawrence, Pennsylvania, (age 16) listed as a laborer, he is listed as having been born in Penn, with both his parents born in Penn.
Some trees claim that his mother was Milton's first wife, Laura Ann Brown ( -1864)
However, I have found no trace of him after 1880.
On the other hand …
I have a James B. Clow, born 18-Mar-1864, who married a Jeannie McAllister in Engleton, Colorado on 9-Nov-1893.
James and Jeannie lived the rest of their lives in Trinidad, Colorado, where he died in 1914 (and she in 1934)
In the 1900 census (under the name of J B Clow), he is listed as having been born "At Sea", with both his parents born in Penn,
In the 1910 census (under the name of James B Clow), he is listed as having been born "At Sea", with both his parents born in Scotland.
His obituary says that he was "born in American waters, but on a ship flying the English flag"
I guess my question is:
Could these be the same person - and does anyone have any suggestions for deciding this?
A different question is:
Does anyone have any more information about the James Clow born in PA in 1864?
Anecdotal evidence:
James and Jeannie named their first-born "Milton".
Thanks in advance!

Hey, I noticed that you have a connection with a 'Clow' Family, and from reading your threads I have noticed a link with Scotland? I'm looking for my Grandad's family tree (Henry Clow - 21st July 1930 to 20 Jan 2012)
Can you help?

Nothing on Rebecca's parents yet, but I found another source that seems to point to her DOD as being 2 Dec 1892. I'm surprised it took me so long to find a source this (I'm sure others have been using it for a while), but I stumbled upon a book called "Lucas genealogy" published in 1964 (found online on ancestry when another website pointed me to it). When it lists Samuel and Rebecca, it says about Rebecca: "b Va 25 June 1816 d 2 Dec 1892 both bur in Brooke Co, W. Va."
Not a completely legitimate record I understand, but given that many of her (the author's) facts are backed up by marriage records and such, I think I'm safe in saying the information (at least from this era) can be seen as pretty reliable.
Unfortunately that's about all the book says about her. But if you are looking for more Lucas information, it's certainly a goldmine. (although I'm sure many others have already found this source long ago)
