I will follow up on that. I did go to the Morman Library in Salt Lake City and found Charlotte and William Clow who are my great grandparents and are buried in PEI so I was exited but limited on time. My husband and I plan on a trip there to spend a couple of days just researching and are head to Scotland next spring for a geneology search. We are renting a car and traveling so if any of you have great information let me know.

The best thing I can tell you is some hearsay. The Mormon Church supposedly went into the records throughout Scotland, and in return for permanently preserving the parish records, unbound the large leather covered parchment books and photographed digitally every page. So, although you will never again be able to have my experience of holding the actual book in your hand, you should be able to view the actual pages by contacting the LDS in your area. Note: The name "Clow" is easy to find in the records because it starts with a capital "C" like in "Christ." Therefore all the letter "Cs" are huge. Cool, huh??

The plaque is indeed there, and I have seen it. I might have a photo, but it was 1989 or so and that was the film days. It was small, and not obvious nor ostentatious. Send me an email using regular email, and if I find the photo I can scan it for you: gregory(a)clow.com

I have this book, and just checked to be sure, but there is no ISBN. It was printed at the Brockville Copy Shop, Brockville, Ontario, Canada (no address listed). When Edgar was still living, he had listed himself as the order point.
His address was:
Edgar Clow
5022 Highway 29
R.R.#4
Brockville, Ontario, Canada
K6V 5T4
phone: (613) 345-2887
I ordered mine after his death, and wrote to his wife. Her name is Mildred Clow. At that time, there weren't many left, and someone else I know of was able to get a copy that wasn't bound. You could try writing Mrs. Clow a letter to see if there are any more copies.
I hope this helps. Good Luck!
Sharon

Sorry, just noticed I didn't proofread very well ---
James1 born 1750 and James2 born 1753. I am sure you were all smart enough to figure out my typo but wanted it in print. Have a great day.

William Clow & Sophia Strader are my ancestors, too. The information I have about them is from Edgar Clow's "A Cleft in the Rock". Edgar has passed, but I believe the book is still available? It's extensively researched and has loads of information on Henry Clow's descendents in Canada, and some on Wm's, too.
But WOW I am excited to hear you studied parish records in Scotland which contained info on Clows back to the 1600s. I have no information beyond Wm & Henry Clow's father Patrick in Dunblane. Do you by any chance have notes on their line? Or can you direct me how to find the records you saw? Thanks!

I'm also descended from the Clow's who emigrated to America, but fought for the British. Two brothers, William & Henry, who were born to one of the Patrick Clows in Dunblane, Scotland. They were given land along the St. Lawrence near Elizabethtown, Ontario. IS the plaque you mentioned on the land of one of these Clow brothers? Do you have a photo you would be willing to share?
