I can help you on Clow origins. The Clows originally went to the states from Scotland in the 1700's. I don't know what area they came to and I am looking for that. However, during the American Revolution some of the Clows stayed and fought with the military and those who disagreed with the war went to Canada via Nova Scotia. You will find not only Ontaria has a number of Clows but the Clows originally settled in Prince Edward Island and owned a number of businesses there. The cemetery there has a large number of Clows and is a great source for geneology. There are also a great number of Clows in Quebec around Montreal and some of those Clows went back to the states and started around Connecticut and further. My mother was Dorothy Clow from Montreal and has a large family following in Quebec and Ontario. I have an Uncle Stanley Clow in PEI who was one of my best sources.

I don't see any recent messages by Jim Brady but would like to correspond with anyone who knows something about the Schenectady Clow or Clough families. In the message that Jim posted Sept. 17, 2001 he referred to an Isaac Clow living at Portland, Ontario.
I believe that John I. Clough or Clow born January 24, 1811 at Schenectady was the same Isaac Clow who lived and died at Sydenham in Ontario, the son of the older Isaac Clow mentioned in Jim's message. I have a year of death for him of 1891. Just today I found a death reg. for one of his sons Thomas Clow who died March 7, 1926, on which was recorded that his father Isaac Clow was born at Schenectady, New York.
Although I am not a Clow desc. myself, I have puzzled over the origins of the Portland, Ontario and Hinchinbrooke Clows for years. This is my first solid lead as to their origins and I would like to explore this further.
If anyone has any info, please contact me here or off this board.
Thanks from Nora

My grandmother was Lucy (Clow) McDermott, daughter of Jessie May Welsh and George Clow. She often spoke of her cousin, Lou Prickman, who was a doctor at the Mayo Clinic, and exchanged letters with him throughout her life. I know he was interested in genealogy and some of his work was passed on to us. I would love to exchange information with you! My email address is lowe(a)frontiernet.net

I just happened upon this obituary and I believe that Mrs. Ella Prickman who attended this funeral was my grandmother, and I think she attended with her oldest son, Dr. Lewis Prickman who was born in 1897. My dad, Dr. William Prickman, was born in 1899 in Warrenton, OH and they then moved to Crafton, PA. I never knew my grandparents as they had passed away before I was born. Are you related to the Prickman's?
