I am actually working on the family of John C. Clover and Lydia Smith. I have recently received John and Lydia's Civil War pension papers from the NARA if you are interested. My husband descends from Hila Olive Samantha Clover, the youngest child listed in the 1880 census.
Please contact me at linneasroots(a)yahoo.com if you want more information.

Sorry. I was mislead by his 1900 census which said that he was born in NY. Actually he and his ancestors were in PA. He was the son of John Clugh Clover and Lydia. He was actually born ca. 1867, as he is in the census as 3 in 1870 and 13 in 1880.
