Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I have been using RootsMagic (and it predecessor Family Origins) for my
genealogy database since 1998 and have been very happy with the product.
It is quite inexpensive ($29) and very user friendly. There are many
users' groups across the country and there is a mailing list where users
- and sometimes the program creator- answer each other's questions.
Great tool for newbies.
This note is to forward you their most recent monthly Newsletter and to
introduce you to the product. I am doing this just to be helpful and not
for any financial rewards. There are several links in the newsletter
that you can follow to learn more about the product. And if you decide
to give it a try, note that they offer a trial version.
Cheers.
Jacques

- Pinpoint the sites of important family events
- Trace your ancestors migration around the world
- Automatically add markers to create personalized maps
- Print maps or save them to several graphics formats
We will offer more details about Family Atlas in the September RootsMagic

as we get closer to release.
But for those folks who live in the Utah County area, we will be having a

- Tip of the Month
Have you ever wanted to know how the people in the far reaches of your
database are related to you?
If so, you are probably familiar with the relationship calculator, where you
can choose yourself and some relative, and RootsMagic will display how you are
related. If you do this a bit, you are aware how much time it takes to select
people and do this each time.
One of the features added in RootsMagic 3 is the "Set relationships" function.
Simply highlight yourself on the main screen, and then do "Tools > Set
relationships" from the main menu. RootsMagic will display a dialog with your
name displayed. Click the "Set relationships" button on the dialog, and
RootsMagic will set the relationship for each blood relative in your database.
As you move around through your database, the relationship of the highlighted
person to you is displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen.
This isn't limited to just showing relationships to yourself. You can use the
"Set relationships" function to set the relationship to any person in the
database.
As always, if you have questions about using RootsMagic more effectively,
visit our message boards at:

- Wallchart Printing
We are often asked how to print the large wallcharts that RootsMagic is
capable of generating.
We have partnered with Generation Maps to provide a very affordable chart
printing option. No more printing on 8.5" x 11" paper and taping them
together. Now you can print single sheet charts up to 42" wide by up to 100
feet long. You can print charts created by the RootsMagic charting program,
or even chart types not currently offered by RootsMagic, like fan charts,
decorative charts, canvas charts, or photo reproductions.
