In the attached message, Suzanne Lafontaine is reminding everyone
that the digital archives of the National Library and Archives
of Quebec at
http://www.banq.qc.ca/portal/dt/accueil.jsp?bnq_resolution=mode_1024
are an important source of information for genealogists pursuing
research on their French Canadian ancestors.
In particular, the Lovell White Pages of Montreal at
http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/index.html
are most useful since you can go street by street and see where
your ancestors lived and also see who lived next to them. They
cover the years 1842 to 2000.
Thank you Suzanne for sharing this information with me.
Happy hunting.
Jacques

Bonjour M.L'Heureux,

Suzanne Lafontaine

Whoever it was probably lived a few thousand years ago, somewhere in
East Asia - Taiwan, Malaysia and Siberia all are likely locations. He -
or she - did nothing more remarkable than be born, live, have children
and die.
Yet this was the ancestor of every person now living on Earth - the last
person in history whose family tree branches out to touch all 6.5
billion people on the planet today.
That means everybody on Earth descends from somebody who was around as
recently as the reign of Tutankhamen, maybe even during the Golden Age
of ancient Greece. There's even a chance that our last shared ancestor
lived at the time of Christ.
