Your grandfather"s name was Angus Cloukey, but he spelled it Clukey for many years of his life. He wa born May 4th, in Clair New Brunswick in 1889, died June 19,1952, Orange, Mass.. His parents were John Cloukey and Angeline Chasse.
You are on the right track the name does come from the Cloutier's initially. They came from around Normandy, France in approximately 1654. They settled in Quebec at that time know as the New France. His name was Zacharie Cloutier, he was commissioned by a Doctor Giffrd to come to the New France to build a chatuex for Dr. Giffard. The story is quite interesting.
Ther is a Coat of Arms for the Cloutier's actually there is 2 of them.
You grandfather's siblings were John, himself, Solomon(not Simon),Phoebe,Saphire(not Sophie),Medi,Antoine, and Legierre. They were all born in Clair, New Brunswick Canada.
Angus married Phoebe Clark, your maternal grandmother. I believe she died in 1936 or 1937, and together they had Lottie,Ralph,Lucy or (Pearl)Fremon,Guy,Marjorie,Frances,Leonard,
Geraldine,Robert, Jacqueline. Angus then married my mother in December 25th ,1937 and they had me, in 1941. There were some children lost at birth or a young age by both wives. I believe His first wife lost 5 and my mother lost 5 children.
I hope this helps you in your search. If you need your grandfathers SS# I have it. If I can help with any other information I would be most happy to give it to you.
Good luck,
Shirley Lorraine Clukey Drake
