Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I received another nasty virus via email tonight. My anti virus program
(McAfee) caught it and suggested that I delete the message right away and it
did not even let me see who it was from. I did not write down the virus name,
but is was a name I never saw before. So BEWARE.
If you are not using anti-virus software, GET ONE RIGHT AWAY. You are playing
with fire.
If you are using one, make sure it is UP TO DATE. And keep updating it every
month at least.
The best two are Norton and McAfee.
And if you are on cable or on a DSL line where you are continuously connected
whenever your computer is on, get some firewall software to prevent hackers
from getting into your computer. I use BlackICE Defender. It costs $39.95 and
the only way to get it is from the web. My computer is on 24 hours/day and I
typically get a dozen attacks per day, all stopped bu BlackICE. Get it at
http://www.networkice.com/html/soho_sales.html. Firewall software IS A MUST
for cable/DSL users. It is as important as anti-virus s/w if not more.
