To all Cloustons and Clouston relations,
Just to let you know, if you did not know already, that I have re-published The Family of Clouston by J. Storer Clouston. I have done so for my children, in memory of my Canadian father, Commander J. Campbell Clouston, Royal Navy (1900 - 1940) - the Pier Master of the Dunkirk Mole for the evacuation in June 1940 of the British Expeditionary Force, who were thereby enabled to return with our Allies to defeat Hitler's and Mussolini's fascist tyrannies - and of other Cloustons who have died defending democracy.
The Family of Clouston contains Storer's extensive and intensive research that established our Clouston links back to Hakon Klo in Orkney and to the Kings of Norway and Scotland in the 12th Century and beyond. It is a first public edition. It is a copy by the original printers, the Orcadian Press, of a copy of the first 1948 privately published edition of the book that was given to the publisher by Storer's son, Erlend Clouston. It is a gold blocked on green hard back book and is as pleasingly near in appearance to the original as possible. It is published with the kind permission of his widow, Eve Clouston, with whom the copyright remains, as does the photocopying right for this and for the original privately published book. The Family of Clouston is a fine family possession for all Cloustons and Clouston relations and a great book for all those interested in family history, Orkney, the Vikings and their descendants.
If you would like a copy or additional copies, I am told that you can buy them with a credit card on the internet from the Orcadian Bookshop, Kirkwall for £25 plus postage and packing. From me the cost is £25 plus £2 postage and packing for Britain or Continental Europe or £5 for America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or South Africa, but for that I ask, please, for a Pound Sterling cheque for the total drawn on a London bank, to be sent to me at Ascott Manor, Stadhampton, Oxford OX44 7RR.
Cousinly greetings, however distant,
Dane Clouston
