I am a decendent of F. Charles Clouse from his daughter Catherine. I found out that Frantz Charles Clauss was born 10 March 1804 in Stundwiller, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhin (Alsace) Region, France. His first name is in Latin on his birth certificate as Franiscus Carolus Clauss.
His parents are Mathias Clauss and Marie Anna Wagner. Marie Anna Wagner born 4 Jan. 1768 in Stundwiller, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhin (Alsace) Region, France and died 26 Nov 1833 in Stundwiller, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhin (Alsace) Region, France.
Elizabeth Fischer was born 19 Jun 1810 in Aschbach, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhin (Alsace) Region, France. Her father was Bernard Fischer.
F. Charles and Elizabeth were married 12 Jan 1832 in Aschbach, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhin (Alsace) Region, France. Marriage banns were posted on 25 Dec 1831 for Charles Clauss and Elizabeth Fischer in Aschbach, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhin (Alsace) Region, France.

The village of Stundwiller and Aschbach are only a mile apart. There are still Clausses and Fischer being buried there, but they are current burials, you can't go find old graves because they bury people in the same spots. If it is like Germany then you lease your plot for around 25 years and unless a family member keeps paying the lease you are dug up and someone else gets buried there.
I tried looking for papers for when they came to America but the emmigration papers are hit and miss.
