Charles is pictured in a 1943 flight annual from Victory Field in Vernon, Texas. I'm not kin but thought this might help others seeking family.

Thank you for the pictures. My mother loved them and said the hands looked like her father's hands.
Ancestry says F. Chas. and Elizabeth Clouse are buried in Corpus Christi Cemetery, Cooper, Webster Co., IA.
Cooper, possibly/probably once a town, is the name of the township which includes Corpus Christi Cemetery. The cemetery can be found near the intersection of N.20th Ave. and N.15th St. in Fort Dodge.

I am not sure what the connection is, but most likely there is and it is one of the items on my list. Possibly a brother to Mathias, the father of F. Charles Claus.
According to the Portrait and biographical record of Dubuque, Jones and Clayton counties ... By Geoffrey Chapman Publishers your Bernhard Claus is the son of Bernhard & Catherine(Sleighter) Claus. Born Aug 8, 1822 in Alsace. It further states that his father died near Columbus Ohio.
I show that your Bernhard and Affra Fischer were married 22 Mar 1850 in Franklin County, Ohio. (date could be a typo, same as his birthdate).
(Frederic) Bernhard Claus: 7 MAY 1797 to 7 AUG 1864 German Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co, Ohio
Catherine Sleighter: ABT 1807 in Alsace, France
married about 1820, Alsace France.

My husband's family settled in Dubuque Co, Iowa about 1850. His 2nd GGfather was Bernhard Claus/Clouse, b 8 Aug 1823 in Alsace, d. 22 May 1906 in Dubuque Co, Iowa who came from Franklin Co, Ohio to Iowa in abt 1850. Bernhard was married to Affra Fisher in Ohio. They had 4 children, Margaret, b. 1851 D. 1851, William, b. 1852, George, b. 1854, Wilhelmina, b. 1856 d. 1856. Affra died in childbirth with the last child. Then Bernhard married Catherine Schleicher 24 Nov 1856 in Dubuque Co. They had 7 children, Mary, Rosena, Catherine, Bernhard, Caroline, Anna, Crescentia.
My question is are the Clouse Families you are talking about possibly connected to this family. If you have any info for me I would greatly appreciate it. I had put Bernhard from Fort Dodge together with my family thinking they are related but I'm not sure after seeing these posts.
Would appreciate corresponding with you about these families. Thank You. Judy

I am not active on Ancestry.com, but happy to help when able. I have posted some Clouse info on the Harris/Shepardson/Pratt tree (not my project) -- you may ask to be a guest there.

I added them to my tree, and you can save a copy to your tree, or hard drive. I also added Bernard Clouse and family. I have other's, including Louis, but just have not added them yet, I will try to get to it later this weekend.

Thanks to you both for all the info. It's great to put together more pieces about the Clouse family.
I have pictures of George D. Clouse, his daughter Harriet and son-in-law Frank Teets.
I'll send you both an invite to my family tree so you can see them.
Joan - I would love to see the photos of F. Charles and Elizabeth! Is that something you can email to me?
Thanks again,
Krista

Yes, your information looks very much like mine.
I do not have the children Elizabeth (1852-1939) or Frances E. (1855-1860).
But can add info for John.
John Frank Clouse, b. 1 Jan 1854 d. 18 Mar 1927

To add to yours above: although I have not completed my work on all of F. Charles and Elizabeth Fischers children, I have documented all of these children:
1831-1909 Charles (Theresa Waldburger)
1840-1856 Joseph
1842-1924 Mathias (Isabella Cunningham & Sarah Ann Pack )
1843-1927 Barney (Catherine O'Connor)
1844-c1910 George D. (Almira Dodge & Ella Hale)
1849-1917 Catherine (William Reilly)
1851- Louis (Josephine Maxwell & Lottie Stone)
1852-1939 Elizabeth (Oliver C. Knode)
1855-c1860 Frances E.
1855-1927 John
1858- Joseph (Florence Rowley)
As I mentioned I have a few gaps that I have to work on. Does this look similiar to what you have?

Thank you for responding to my post. Joan has more information than I do, but in order to show a source associated with your query I will add census records showing Joseph as son of F. Charles Clouse, then as brother of George D. Clouse, thus linking George to F. Charles:
1870 U.S. Census Johnson, Webster Co., Iowa, p. 491
Clouse, Charles age 68, b. Germany
Elizabeth 60, b. Germany
Lewis 19, b. Germany
John 13, b. NY
Joseph 12, b. NY
1880 U.S. Census Cass, Jones Co., Iowa, p. 352B
Clouse, George age 35, b. France
Almira wife 38, b. Vermont
Harrette dau 7, b. Iowa
George F. son 4, b. Iowa
Edgar son 2, b. Iowa
Joseph brother 23, b. New York
Circumstantial evidence, yes, but compelling.
M. Young
