George D. Clouse is a son of Elizabeth and F. Charles Clouse. Not sure if the original poster is still active but will share with you what I have on him. I have a picture of both Elizabeth and F. Charles, would love to have one of George.
George was born June of 1844 in Aschbach Village, Wissembourg District, Bas-Rhine France. He immigrated with his parents F. Charles and Elizabeth on the Albert Gallatin, arriving in New York on 4-30-1852. His family lived in Alden, Erie County, New York until at least 1858, when the family moved to Prairie Creek, Dubuque County, Iowa.
On 2-28-1871 George married Almira E. Dodge in Jones County Iowa.
Almira was born 1842 in Vermont, the daughter of Elisha Dodge and Harriet N. Clark. On 9-1-1854 she married A.W. Barker and had children Laura (1856-1857), Albert W. (1858-1871) and an unnamed male in 1861. A.W. died in 1860. On 11-4-1866 Almira married Jesse Tucker. I have no information what happen to him, possible he died in the war.
George and Almira had the following children:
10/11/1872 Harriet (Frank Teets)
5/5/1875 George Francis (Katherine Kreeb)
2/-/1878 Edgar (Eunice Sykes)
2/15/1883 - 2-2-1885 Victor H.
The family lived in Anamosa, Jones County, Iowa where George was a farmer and stock breeder.
Almira died in May of 1891 and is buried at the Cass Congregational Cemetery.
On 5/23/1893 George married Ella Hale, she was the daughter of Thomas hale and Margaret Phelan. Ella was born June 1849 in Canada. She had previously been married to a Sloper.
In 1900 George and Ella are living in Siloam Springs, Arkansa which is a retirement area near Lake of the Ozarks. In 1910 the are in El Reno, Oklahoma.
George died about 1910* and is reportedly buried at the Cass Congregational Cemetery. I do not know what happened to Ella.
I have quite a bit of information about all of Georges' brother and sisters...and his children listed above. My work in available on ancestry, I will send you a link. I have some more current work to update, just have not gotten the chance you.
Joan Clouse

One of my ancestors is George D. Clouse, who, according to the family stories was born in/near Strasbourg, France (around 1845). I don't know the names of his parents, but he seems to fit well with your story, as the 6-year-old George.
He is listed in the 1880 census as living in Cass, Jones County, Iowa, age 35, a farmer, married with three children. I am descended from his daughter Hattie Clouse (Harrette). I have some photos of him as well.
What do you think? Do you have any other info about the George Clouse in your story?

Like most people on this list I to am still looking for a copy of Prietta Clouse Franklins book. Is there anyone on the list that has a copy they would like to part with or loan out. I have been trying several resources for about 10 years now with no success. If you have a copy you would like to part with or be willing to loan for a short time please contact me at.
