Without going back and looking at Pat's book, I'm going to say that at least Christian is who she considered the brother to George Clouse I of TN to be. She was not able to identify who the father may be. I believe she based her thoughts about this on the timeframe and the similarities in family names, as was common at the time.
I don't remember reading about John in her book, but I do know that George Clouse I of TN had children named Christian/Christopher (depending on what record you look at) and John. I also know that there was a John Clouse in the adjoining county to where I believe George Clouse II went in Kentucky but haven't been able to find out any other information than he was there and died around 1810, at about the same time George I of TN did.

Yep they were odd to say the least. lol
I'm sure they are all connected somewhere down the line but haven't gotten that far either yet.
Most of my Clouses' came from Ohio I believe as well as IL and IN. I will check to see if any of mine came from PA but quite a few of them were preachers and there are several of them buried down in Farmersbutg, IN which is not far from me but I haven't made it down yet to get photos of headstones if readable. I am hoping to do that before winter sets in as I can't get out at that time of the year. When my Clouse married into the Beasley and Adkins family they too used the same names over and over. So the oddity runs all down this family tree to the roots. Take care

There were at least 4 George W. Clouses in Indiana that I know of. My George W. Clouse (b. 1810 KY) was the father of Andrew J. Clouse (b. 1837 IN). George W. married Eliza Ruffner and Andrew J. married Eliza J. Pickett (do they ever name their kids anything else - and then they marry the same names, too??!).
I know that my Andrew J. Clouse served in the Civil War for the Union, but for the state of IL instead of IN - still trying to figure out why he went over the state line to enlist. I know that there was another Andrew Clouse who served for the Union also, but for the state of IN. This is probably your Andrew Clouse, but I don't know who his father was. I haven't looked at that family in quite a while, but I believe they may have come to IN from PA or Germany.
If they are the ones who came from PA, they may be related to my George W./Andrew J. Clouse way back in the early 1700s. Pat Franklin posits in her book that the two families may be connected by a common father very early on but she was unable to find documentation of it. The family names are eerily similar, though!

Thanks for replying and there are so many George W Clouses in the family it must have slipped by me as I don't have one put in the tree yet. Thank you for clearing that up.
I would love to have some type of copy of that obit if that is okay with you. Then I can add it to the tree.
Thanks again

George W. Clouse was indeed Aaron Leatherman Clouse's father - but Aaron and Mary "Polly" (Maiden name unknown) had a son named George W. Clouse as well. Their son is who I have a copy of the obituary from and the obit names his father as Aaron Leatherman Clouse. Here is a link to the web page with the obit:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tnmario2/index.html
When you scroll down far enough, there is a section labeled obits and then they are in alphabetical order. I am still working on getting a hard copy of it.
Let me reiterate that I am not posting this to take anything away from Pat Franklin. I think that she did fantastic work. But she apparently did not have access to this obituary at the time of publication and it wasn't her direct line. I am posting this because many, many, many people are reporting that the son of George W. Clouse I (who was also named George and is commonly referred to as George II) went to Marion Co, TN based on Ms. Franklin's work. I do not believe that he did because there is much circumstantial evidence of where he went.
Please feel free to contact me concerning George II.

I have checked my Clouse family and found that George W Clouse was actually Aaron Leatherman Clouse father. Aaron and his wife Mary Polly have no children in my tree as I could find none and neither of my cousins James or David Clouse have any either. So apparently there were no children at all. I will try to dig deeper but I got all my info from them and they have done extensive research.

I am a descendent of Aaron Leatherman Clouse and GWC and I will check my records as to his wife and children if you like. I have the Clouse tree posted here on Ancestry. All info of which I received from my cousins James and David Clouse.
Let me know if you want it emailed or whatever. Thank you

I would be interested in a copy of that obit if you get a "hard copy". This sounds interesting. I have not double checked Pat's work in the Clouse Book. But do plan to do so. I have only double checked back to my ancestor -- Benjamin Clouse who married Susannah Suttles.
When I purchased her book in 2006(?) I tried to get 2 copies but was told there was only one left. I know that the Salt Lake Utah Genealogical Library has a copy -- those who are interested in seeing the book could see if they do interlibrary loan. Also -- the White Co. Library may have a copy as well. For those who have not see the book -- it is legal size pages.

I have been trying to get a copy of this book for some time now (Since 2000). Prietta Clouse Franklin wrote the book. But from what I have heard she is now deceased and no one at the address or phone number when I called it knew anything about a book. Much less if there were any other copies out there. I would like to get my hands on this book if someone is willing to loan it out or sell a copy. Thanks.
