Replying to my own post again - but I need to correct some info from my 4pm post today...
I said this obit was posted on the Marion County, TNGenWeb site. However, after I closed the browser and tried to get to it again, it wasn't there. I went in to my History and found the correct website, which is actually a Rootsweb site - and for some reason, there are two for Marion County, TN. The one where I found the obit is as follows:
www.rootsweb.com/~tnmario2/index.html
There appears to be lots of good but dated info here. Because the alternate Rootsweb site for Marion County is www.rootsweb.com/~tnmarion, I wonder if someone changed it because of the "2" in the address. In any case, be careful - the obits are not posted on the "newer" site for whatever reason - maybe they're not real??? I've e-mailed the county coordinator that was listed on the "2" site and we'll see what I get...

I'm replying to my own post here - seems kind of dumb! But I wanted to make sure this info was out there and available for others who might be interested.
In reference to my original post on this thread, I have just found an online copy of an obit for George Washington Clouse of Marion County, TN - the one who was shown as the son of George II in Pat Franklin's book. If this obit is correct (and I'm trying to get an actual copy rather than a posted, transcribed copy), then the George W. Clouse who lived in Marion County, TN (and who is on every census there from 1830 until 1880) was the son of Aaron "Leatherman" Clouse. I have wondered for quite some time if this was the case, but no one has ever reported knowing that Aaron and his wife had children. However, I have come to the conclusion that there could only be two possibilities for who the father of this George Washington Clouse could be - they are George II or Aaron. As I firmly believe that I know the whereabouts of George II after 1808 (and it wasn't Marion County, TN), that only leaves Aaron. The obit reads as follows (excuse what appear to be errors or typos - I have t!
yped it exactly as I found it):
George Washington Clouse, was born May the 20th, 1808 in WASHINGTON CO TN. And departed from this life June 5th 1893. Age 85 years and 16 days... His father, Aaron Clouse, returned from the CREEK WAR in the year of 1812, and died in a few days after reaching his home. Mary CLouse, his wide and mother of a deceased, then moved from Washington County, to Sweetens Cove, Marion Co, TN, and lived there until the year of 1836. He then moved to Shellmount, TN, where he spent the remainder of his life. August 24th 1837, he was married to Lydia Watson who still lingers on the shores of time. A few years later, the deceased attached himself to the FREEWELL BAPTIST CHURCH. In 1867, the Missionary Baptist Church organized at Macedonia, near Shellmound, TN. He then joined that branch of the Christian Church, and lived a consistent member of the same until death. Brother CLouse was a very positive and he was strictly honest and truthful. He spoke of heaven as his future home. He bore his !
affication with fortitude and submission. He leaves a widow, five children, and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss, may they imitate his virtues and avoid his mistakes. May they all meet again in the 'Home" in Heaven...
Ths is posted in the Obits section, Marion County, TNGenWeb. There is no date of publication, but since GWC allegedly died in 1893 and that he leaves a widow, it had to be during or after 1893.
