Roy, I am constructing a national Clouse family tree and I am wondering
if you can tell me anything about the parents or grandparents of Lloyd
or Jasper Clouse.

Lloyd and Jasper Clouse were brothers,on the afternoon of april the
24,1937, the two bothers
left the latter's home and walked through Verda,
a company-owned mining camp, in search of Clyde Dosher, a friend. Before
they started out they had
been discussing the Union drive for membership.
They stopped at a saloon to see if Dosher was there.
A half dozen deputies were in the rear of the place,
But neither brother spoke to them. They merely looked around not finding
Dosher,went out again.
The deputies,Bill Lewis,Melvin Moore,Logan Middleton,Maynard Hobbs and
two others, followed them. Then as they started down the street Lewis
shouted at them to stop.I want to search you two;
he bellowed. Lloyd Clouse carried a pistol, because
it was customary to do so in Harlan."At Lewis command, the two men
stopped and turned around. AS
they did so, the company deputies opened fire upon
them and started running toward them. Lloyd Clouse
had no time to draw his pistol and defend himself.
A bullet struck him.He fell to the ground.Jasper
Clouse closed in and grabbed Middlton trying to
keep him from shooting him.A company deputie came
up behind him and struck him over the head with
a gun butt.everything went black he slumped to his knees and fell
over. When he came to his brother was dead beside him.He left a widow and
ten children.
The next day,Jasper Clouse took his brothers family to Bell county for
fear that he would be killed if
if they remained in Harlan. He took his brothers body
to Bell county.Lloyd Clouse was my great grandfather
he left my great grandma Minnie a widow with ten
children, if anyone knows anything about this or
any more articles about the clouses let me know.
This isn't genealogy...but I want to thank everyone so much for the kind
words and thoughts they sent.
Sorry have been so long in responding. To let everyone know, we were
finally able to bring our three year old daughter home late last night from
the hospital. It turned out to be a burst appendix....very dangerous. We
have an in-home nurse come in twice a day to administer antibiotics via I.V.
as well as three doses of oral antibiotics that I give her per day. She
seems almost her old self....but she tires easily. I warn anyone with young
children and who might be caring for an older adult.....burst appendix are
much more common than you would think and are hard to diagnose in the very
young and the more mature adult. The symptoms mimic so many other
gastro-intestinal illnesses. And not everyone's appendix is in the same
location....so forget the notion of appendix pain only being on the right
side.
I have to take her back to the surgeon every few days so that they can
monitor her progress. If all goes well and she responds to the antibiotics
at home as well as she did in the hospital, then she will go back for
surgery in 3 to 4 weeks to have the appendix removed. Currently, the
surgeon feels that the risks far outway the benefits of removing it right
away. Her abdoman is still obviously swollen and her blood work still shows
too high a level of infection to risk an operation for "convenience."
I truly appreciate everyone's concern. She is allowed no "rough housing."
Anyone that has ever cared for a 3 year old knows what a task that is going
to be. I will try to get back to everyone who sent me genealogical queries
as soon as time permits. Please continue to keep her in your prayers as
this is not over yet.

Sheila -
I had George Henry listed as Henry G. married to Elizabeth Unknown and
without issue. Thanks for the correction and additional data and I,
likewise, would be glad for more.

Hi, I just sent some information about George Henry Clouse. I would like to
correct the information I sent. I do not have any documented evidence of the
father or fore fathers of George Clouse 1. The information was included by
mistake. I keep that information only as clues in my search to find George
Clouse 1's ancestry. Please disregard information in the first line past
George Clouse 1. Corrected information below:
