I'm looking for anyone who may have any information on a Daniel T Clough (b. Oct 2 1817, Maine - d. 1914, Iowa(?)) He married Sarah E Plummer in 1856 in Maine and they had three children Aaron Frank (my line), William P, & Aurieanna (Lloyd). I know that he and his wife left Maine and went to Iowa but I don't really know anything about his past. If anyone can help me with any information I would really appreciate it!

Message Board Post:
My great grandfather George Clough was born sometime between 1864 and 1867 (ages on census returns providing the variation) in Ireland - probably Dublin. He first appears on the UK census in 1891 in the Liverpool area and marries there in 1894. The marriage certificate lists his father as Arthur Clough, occupation labourer.
So far I have been unable to trace a birth record for George and cannot find anything substantial on his father either. Neither do I have any idea whether his father was Irish or in Ireland for some reason at the time of George's birth. I don't believe there is any military connection.
George married Lucy Greed in 1894 and their son Edward (born 1898) married my grandmother Alice Bracegirdle.
I am posting this in the hope that someone researching the surname Clough may be able to provide a thread of detail that will help me follow George and Arthur's line further.
Many thanks,
Sandra
