Just a note on Salem vital records - many were derived from church records, the dates are often noted (bp)for baptism and (bur) for burial - each will have occured sometime after the actual event. Where the category is marriage, a date can be noted (int) for intentions filed, which will have preceded the event.
An example is: Gibson, clerk, bur. July 18, 1799. C. R. 11. [a. 62 y. G. R. 9.]
C. R. 11. signifies church record, St. Peters Episcopal Church.
G. R. 9. from the gravestone record, Harmony Grove Cemetery.
