I am trying to find information on any Clough's who are from the Kennebunkport, Maine area. The family was Charles and Anne and they had a son named Charles Jr. He just past away this last May and I am trying to do some background on his parents side of the family for his family.
Anything anyone could contribute would be of great help.
Thank you so much.

Hi Karen,
I am not going to be much help. I have a strange reason for my interest in the Clough family and, so far, it is just an interest. I am so sorry to say that I don't have any knowledge of the other families you mention here.
The reason for my interest in Amanda Clough is that an ancestor of mine, James A. Newberry, married an "Amanda" (last name unknown) in Mills or Pottawattamie County, Iowa, 1870-1872. Amanda Clough fits the description of this wife, his last of five, and I have tried to find clues about her later life after the last record I have which is that 1870 census. Amanda just disappears, as does James' wife.
James was about 80 when family stories said he married a VERY young girl. No proof was found until a deed with the name of a wife, Amanda, was found dated 1872. That is all we know of Amanda with the exception of a written family history which says that James' last wife was living in Harrison County, Iowa. I can't find her.
James, like the Cloughs, was a Mormon and had followed Joseph Smith to Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, and then James went on to Iowa as did many Mormons at that time. His first wife is buried in Nauvoo, Illinois. The Cloughs and Newberrys do cross paths several times and they can be found on the same census records just one page apart in Pottawattamie County.
I wish I could help and I will see if I can find anything more.
Mary

Hello, My name is Karen Morlan and I see you have interst in Alexander & Julia Cluff or Clough.
I research my Bowen family who came across America with the Mormon movement in the 1840's. Julia and Alexander seem to be living near my Miranda/Maranda in the 1850's. Julia is living with Miranda and her husband Nicholas Fritz in 1880.
I find the Clough family in Pottawattamie and Mills County areas in the 1850's with Children listed. If you know more about the family or would like to know more about Miranda Bowen Groves,Clark, Fiedler, Fritz-Please let me know.
