Fortunately, the old CLOUGH Family Bible gave the children's birthdays and places of birth and they tally with the census with the surname JONES. Frederick William, born Newbridge, Ireland, and William born in Brighton, Sussex, and Alfred born in Melksham, Wiltshire. The other 2 sons were born after the 1871 census and in 1881, Frederick William was with them and their mother(who was born in Melksham) back in Nantwich as CLOUGH.
Also the mother was born Johannah BURBAGE/BURBIDGE and the marriage and birth certs tally.
Johannah & William's fathers & their fathers' occupations also tally.
The father, William CLOUGH AKA William JONES' death was registered as CLOUGH in 1876 and it stated he was a Private in the Lancers and the informant was his father (also William).
