Searching for information on the family of Samuel Humphrey and Sarah Clough. Her parents, Nathan Clough born abt 1754 of Brentwood, Rockingham County, New Hampshire and died 1806 Francestown, Hillsboro Co., NH and Sarah Johnson, were married 13 Jan 1778 in Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts and had three children there, Nathan born 10 May 1778, John born 17 Aug 1780, and Sarah born 28 Jan 1783. This family must then have moved to NH and likely had more children. What happened to them after they left Woburn? Daughter Sarah and Samuel Humphrey married abt 1803 and had at least one daughter Mary born 1804/5 in NH who married, his third wife, Nathaniel Goodspeed Oct 1851 Puntney, Windham County, Vermont. Mary died 1857 and is buried in Clark Warren Cemetery, Marlboro, Windham County, Vermont with Nathaniel Goodspeed and his other three wives. I would appreciate any help with the family of Samuel Humphrey and Sarah Clough. When and where was Samuel born and who were his !
parents? When and where did he die? When and where did Sarah die. Did they have any other children? Thank you dave.richardson(a)mindspring.com

Hello,
I found what could be my 3 GGM Elizabeth Clough's death in Huddersfield. 1843 April, May and June. Vol.22 Page 259
What information will those records have.
Do any Clough family have her in their tree?
If she is mine, her birth would be about 1786 and married James Clough. They are found in 1841 Census in Almondbury. Then she is lost.
I can't find them in the 1851 Census, even in Lancashire, where I found their children.
Can anyone help?
Gratefully,
Ginger in snowy Pa, USA

Hi georgiasnanny.
It's great to hear from you!
My great, great, great grandparents were William & Frances (Fanny) CLOUGH nee ASHLEY which my Family Tree Maker says makes you & I, 4th cousins.
Emma CLOUGH's elder brother, William was baptised 16 December 1836 and he was my great, great grandfather.
William has caused me SO much frustration as he married Johannah BURBAGE/BURBIDGE as William JONES (not CLOUGH).
They had 5 sons, William, Alfred, Frederick James, Thomas Henry and lastly my great granddad, Edward. All 5 sons' births were registered as JONES and to further confuse matters, Edward was registered as Edmund JONES. As William was a soldier with the 9th Lancers, all the sons (except Edward) were registered as Regimental Births.
Edward had 8 children and the first born was my granddad, Thomas William CLOUGH.
I would love to hear more about Walter & Lavinia and their descendants. I have a bit of info about them but more would be wonderful.
I have an interest in Emma as I found her death in the Discharge Register at Cheshire County Asylum. What a tragic early death which could have been avoided with modern medication.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Regards,
Shirley.
