Searching for info on George Francis Clow born 19 March 1889 in Leadville,
Lake Co, Colorado. His parents were George Clow and Lily Bloom/Blum.
Supposedly George Sr. died while George Jr was young. Lily remarried and
left George Jr with his grandmother Marion Bloom. He is living with her and
using Bloom name on 1900 census of Leadville, Colorado when he was 12.
Census says his father was born in Canada and his mother in Iowa. Marion
was born in Mass.
1910 Lake Co, CO census almost impossible to read, it is so faint. George
married Sarah Belle Earp 1914 in Farmington, Davis Co, Utah. 1920 census
they are living in Florence, Fremont Co, Colorado. About 1926, George and
Sarah divorce and George moves to Oregon. He later remarried a Daisy Savage
Babb. George and Sarah had three children: Louise, Vauna and Donald.
Anyone know this family? Will share what I have.
Thanks for any help.

Hi All
Ok all of you closer cousins to me, a quick question for you. Who were Molly
Crams parents? And didnt Molly and Moses live in Rockingham County? (I cant
look it up as my computer is messed up and I lost alot of my programs.
Luckly I saved it all to disk, but Im afraid to reload it until we get the
computer redone this weekend. We tried to do it ourselves, lol, and guess
what? Didnt work. So we are making a special trip to visit a computer wiz
friend of ours and he will fix it.) I got my hands on an old document from
Rockingham County and it has a lawyers name of Nathan Cram. I THINK that is
Molly's father but not sure. Can anyone tell me?
Oh and one more thing. I am extending the final due date for the bulletin
until the 8th as I can do much with it until the computer is fixed anyway.

you dont mind I will submit your email to the Clough-L and if the one who

Hi listers
I finally ran across some info for my gggrandfather, Orson CLOUGH. The
information was received as a copy of a query in the Boston Transcript 1911.
It insinuates that Orson is a cousin of the John CLOUGH line through
Luther's son Horace.
Other names mentioned in the article associated with my California line are:
Abner Poe CLOUGH (listed as brother to my Orson). He is buried in Amador
County, CA with Orson and family. Also included is Barclay De Tully CLOUGH,
son of Horace and Parthenia BALDWIN. I have no information on his
whereabouts in California yet.
Does anyone on the list have experience with the Boston transcript and its
validity? Would it help it I transcribed this portion for the listers to
examine? The print is really small and with all the John's :) quite
difficult and lengthy to read unless transcribed.
Thank You

G'day List,
I have just come back on and still clutching straws. I'm looking for
Margaret HOLBROOK nee CLOUGH
Might have emigrated to New York after 1872. Fathers name Isaac mothers
Anne. Margaret was born in 1842 Calverley Yorkshire England. I have her on
census night 1871 with her parents but not in the country for the 1881
census. Her father Isaac could have been living with her after 1881 as
there is no death certificate that I have found in the UK. I have checked
all deaths up to 100yrs after he was born in the UK.
The story goes that a Gt Uncle of mine coming back from the 1st W.W stayed
with relations in New York in 1918. Know I don't no if Margaret is the one
but you have to look at every avenue. I haven't found as yet when Margaret
was married, in 1871 she was.
Can any one help.

To all those who has been searching for years , for that one ancestor ,
without results. When one thinks of the many descendents from that
"ancestor" and yet, no one seems to know anything about his parentage.
There must be 'someone' who does but how do you reach them ???? That seems
to be the question that is haunting many of us. What to do ??????
The Parents of William Sweet who married Hannah Clough. Where are you
?????
Linda,
Did you try calling or writing the Medical Examiners office directly? Since
they generate the death certificate, perhaps they might be able to help you.
They might be able to give you the source of the information used to make
the death cert. re: names, dates etc and then you can request copies of
those.
I don't know how they do it in Canada, but I know that in some States, the
info on the death cert. is taken from the Police or EMS report. This info
usually is obtained from friends or family members who are on the scene when
EMS and the police arrive. As an EMS worker, I can tell you that for many
reasons, the info given to emergency workers at the time of death is often
wildly inaccurate. Sometimes because the person giving it is very upset and
confused, sometimes because the person doesn't really know and is
embarrassed to say so, so they will say just anything.
Also, I believe that WOODBRIDGE is the name of a village in a borough of
NYC. Perhaps your father was named for the location where he was found? It
is common for nursing staff to give any foundling child a name while they
care for him. Often these names refer to the setting or circumstances
surrounding the child when found. I knew a woman named Patience Morgan. She
was named for the fact that she was found on the steps of the Morgan Library
in front of the famous lions (the lions are called "Patience" and
"Fortitude").
Good luck hunting!
Tina

Subject: [CLOUGH-L] Re: Primary sources? Here's a dilemma: Can YOU get
your parents' BCs?
Dear Cousins,
I suppose primary sources DO include birth and death certificates? Well,
Bonnie, you said newspapers have misinformation. You should see my adoptive
father's death certificate from Ontario, Canada! Talk about screwed up!
His
name, birthplace, (adoptive) parents' names and birthplaces are ALL wrong!
None of the information on the death certificate agrees with any other
"documentation" about him.
He was told he was born in Brooklyn, NY (which may or may not be correct
because the place of birth of adoptees is frequently changed to the place of
residence of the adoptive parents, and his aparents lived in Brooklyn). On
his death certificate his birthplace is listed as New York, NY. His surname
has been changed twice: his birth name was WOODBRIDGE--from his adoption
decree (I am trying to find out where he got that one since he was
supposedly
a "foundling" in NY), was changed to his adopted surname KOLSKY--from his
adoption decree, and then his change of name to KENNETH--from his petition
to
change his surname in 1942. The Canadian death certificate lists his
adoptive parents with the last name of KENNETH instead of KOLSKY, and gives
his adoptive parents' birthplaces as the United States. To top it all off,
his afather was actually born in Poland (from his afather's death
certificate) and his amother in Lithuania (from her death certificate).
They
were married in London, England.
Hope none of you have to deal with New York. I simply requested a copy of
my
(adoptive) father's birth certificate, the amended one with his first change
of name with his adoptive parents' names listed. I purposely did not
mention
that he was adopted nor that the birth certificate was his amended one, nor
that I was adopted. (Mentioning the "A" word--adoption--will get you nothing
but a brick wall. It's very much like the letter "A" of Scarlet Letter
fame.) I just simply requested MY father's birth certificate for
documentation of my genealogy research.
Please tell me if anyone else has had a problem with NY. NY absolutely
refuses to release my father's birth certificate to me (and I am LEGALLY his
daughter, of course; he was born in 1911 and died in 1973) without a
CERTIFIED copy of his death certificate from Canada. Since NONE of the
information on the death certificate is correct nor does it match the
information, names, and places on the birth certificate, it does not appear
to even be the same person!
So, I wrote to Ontario and told them that the information on the death
certificate is incorrect and needed to be changed, explaining exactly what
was wrong and that I needed a corrected copy so I could get a copy of my
father's birth certificate from NY. Here's the kicker: Ontario wants a
certified copy of my father's BIRTH certificate (I can't even get a
NON-certified copy of the birth certificate without the death certificate
from Ontario) from NY, a certified copy of my (adoptive) grandfather's birth
certificate from Poland (I have NO idea where in Poland he was born), and a
certified copy of my (adoptive) grandmother's birth certificate from
Lithuania (I have NO idea where she was born either) in order to get my
dad's
death certificate corrected! So they have me running in circles going
nowhere!
My plan is to take all the original copies I have of all the documents and
attorneys' letters concerning my adad and his aparents and make copies to be
notarized so that I can possibly get the information on the death
certificate
changed. Do you think that would work?
Has anyone else had such a problem with the State of New York or a borough
of
New York City? And how does one get a marriage certificate from London,
England?
The absolute IRONY of the entire situation is that I have had absolutely NO
problem requesting and receiving from another state, my BIRTH family
member's
birth, marriage, and death certificates!!!!!!!!!! And my point is this:
don't accept everything on the birth and death certificates you find as
necessarily correct either. The newspaper might not be any worse for
telling
the truth.
Your frustrated secret cousin,
Linda Freehling

Well just got home from the reunion. It was great! And sorry you missed
it.A good time was had by all of us! I am not going to say too much at this
point in time as you can read it in the bulletin that will come out next
month. And yes it is now official, I am the new editor. I sure hope I can
fill in the shoes that Jerry and Carl wore (grin)!!! My feet a very small
(haha). On that line of thought I also want to Thank Jerry & Carl for the
wonderful job they have done with the bulletin over the years. And also say
a public Thanks to them for all the info they have sent me over this past
week. Yes I got it all, but not until I got home. And most of you know what
a time I had last trip with my car and so you will be happy to hear I had no
car problems at all this trip. (YAHOO)!!! But boy oh boy it sure did pore
down this way. We have a flooded cellar and even our driveway was flooded.
And it is STILL poring out there! Oh well guess I shouldnt complain too
much, at least we wont have a dry spell around here for a while. (another

I just got home from the reunion about 1/2 hour ago and in my mail was a
supplement of additions and corrections and omissions from Vol 1 of the
Clough book. This lists our line on page 12. It states:
304 1657 ANSON (John, Thomas, Zacheus, Jabez, Moses, Wadleigh) born June
25, 1803 at Strafford Vt. m. Sarah Eliza Moores of Potsdam NY on June 25
1825. She was the dau. of Isaac Moores a blacksmith. They lived in
Washington VT Durham, P.Q. and in Lyme NH for 40 years. One son, Ephraim and
4 daughters were born. On June 25, 1895 Anson and wife celebrated their 70th
wedding anniversary. It also lists the children of Ehpraim as well as the
birthdates. Then it goes on to list your Father and Mother and all of their
children. It might be a good idea for you to get this suppliment. So
instead of you writting to Adaline I will make you a copy and mail it.
These were the corrections that were made before the reprint of vol. 1 in
1968. jackie

Hiya Bonnie,
I think I'll write to Albany about my grandfather's death cert. I got so
frustrated with New York that I decided to give up on them for a little
while. LOL! Maybe putting the research on the "back burner" for the summer
helps clear out all the cobwebs. :-)
I had subscribed to the Bronx County list, but it was basically people
reminiscing about their neighborhoods, egg creams and the Yankees. Whenever I
posted a query about genealogy, they'd tell me to go to the Bronx County

Donna
Hello Family,
Well I have done it now, I have run into a problem and sure hope that someone out there is able to help me solve it. I haven't had much luck at it.
The problem is just who was Anson CLOUGH married to, Sarah CAMPBELL or Sarah Eliza MOORES ?
The Vermont Vital Records microfilm roll # 33 has Anson CLOUGH and Sarah CAMPBELL listed as the parents of Ephraim CLOUGH.
The Vermont Vital Records microfilm roll # 59 has his birth date as June 25, 1803.
I have a newspaper clipping from "The Union" dated July 8, 1895 and it has a picture of Anson CLOUGH with his wife Sarah Eliza MOORES.
The article states he was born on June 25, 1802 to Wadleigh and Hannah (Scribner) CLOUGH in Strafford Vermont. He was one of five sons and one daughter.
While visiting his sister in Potsdam New York he met and married Sarah Eliza MOORES on June 25, 1825.
The article was written because on June 25, 1895 they celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary and his ninety third birthday.
The party was held at his nearest neighbors house in Lyme New Hampshire.
Now having read this message, I am sure that you'll see the problems I have found. I sure hope that someone is able to clear this matter up or at least shead some light on it so I can get out of the dark. If you are able to help me, please post the answer to the list so that others may also have the information.
One other thing, if anyone would like to see the picture and read the complete article you can do so by going to my web site. Click My Interest, then click Genealogy, then click Family Album. You'll see it listed at the top.
Thank You,
Vernon G Clough
