Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Well cousins,
I guess I have to make a few things clear so I suppose this is a good
time to do it.
First off, let me say that I have gotten an email , never mind who sent
it, telling me that for privacy reasons I shouldn't submit our family
tree to the World family tree project - until such time that it is agreed
upon. It was thoughtless of me to even think of submitting it without
everyones consent, so I will not do that have no fear. But I did get
excited about the fact that this person or persons have submitted info
that dates back to 1006! I have yet to check that more throughly.
Next, some of you have complained that some of my messages are coming in
one long line again. That is easliy explained. I can still email the
Clough L on my other address - just not receive mail from it at that
address. If I am already in there and have a message to send then I
will send it from there - which will produce one long line. I am sorry
about that. But, in order for me to use this juno address I need to get
out of the "net" and inot juno. As I have stated before, I am only
allowed a certain number of accesses per day, hence, I use the other
address. This one Iam really saving for Clough L incoming mail. Sorry.
Last, I have already entered over 400 names to my data base and still
have 3 more of John and Janes children to add! So it is getting bigger
by the hour!
Once more I am sorry if I have offended anyone by saying I was going to
submit to that project. Feel assured that Iwon't without permission.
jackie
Hi Cousin!
Hey with this new family tree maker program that Ihave I can look up info on the World Family Tree Project. And I did that this morning and I found "our" John was already subbmitted by someone!!! This is the info that I got from that file. Submitted on 6/5/1995 Tree name: Clough, Maverick, Chase of WI, England 1006 - 1995. This does list all of Johns children, but I found that it doesn't list the 2nd spouses (like Martha Cilley, or Thomas's wife Ruth). It is of course incomplete. I am going to try to find out if there is anyway that someone can get in touch with the person who submitted this.
To Sheila: Do we have a member in the Society with any of the names I listed above under the tree name?
also I want you all to know that once I have all the info in my database I plan on submitting this info to the World Family Tree project, that way it can be updated correctly. There was only this one person who submitted this info, and as we all know, there is alot more of us out there! I was so excited to find that our family was submitted already! I just had to share this with all of you. jackie
Jackie,
Perhaps you should think about using the digest method??? Your notes are
coming through fine. So free is free. Aren't you supposed to be working on
your Family Tree Maker anyway?? hehehehe
Have a great day, Liz
You are comming through to me.
Take care,
Emmett

Hi Judy,
I'm sending this reply to you, and to Clough-l. If you get two copies,
you'll know your list mail is fine. If you don't get the copy through
Rootsweb, let me know. (You were on the subscriber list as of yesterday)

Well Cousins,
Just thought you would like to know that I am having another problem with juno again. I went into my account this morning while still connected to the internet. My connection froze my computer so I had to reboot. And lost all the email on that account that you all sent to me last night! Icnnot figure out how to retrieve them! I didn't delete them either, they just disappeared! If this is going to be a problem form now on , then something tells me that I won't be long with that email address either! I am however waiting to hear from eudora
(I finally got anemail address for them) as I sent them a email
asking why I couldn't download their program completely onto my system. Like Judy and CJ just toldme, sometimes computers give you more grey hairs than you want! Sorry for all the complaints you folks have been getting from me lately.
Just doesn't seem to be my week for anything! jackie
Hi cousins, well I guess the mail gremlin has jumped ship from Jackie to
us. For 2 days no mail in or out. We are now getting mail from Essex
list and norteast list but have not recieved anything from Clough list
in 3 days.
question:
Has everyone stopped writing or do I still have a problem? If possible
could someone let me know if we are comming through . thank you . Judy
and CJ.
Hi again,
I wanted to share a bit of info that I found out the hard way today. Juno members are only allowed a certain percentage of usage per day. Then they are not allowed to access thier account the rest of the day. Which stinks in a way, but its understandable seeing its free! As normal, I used up my access time already and its not even 4 p.m. already!! So any other info sent to me there will have to wait until tomorrow for me to answer. Sorry.
I am still able to sendmail from the old address to Clough L, just not get any from Clough L, but - I am however still listed under the digest mode, and getting that ok for the moment. (I think). jackie
Hey Judy & CJ,
I goofed! I didn't even think and deleted that message with that web
site address you just sent out. Can you please send it to me again?
Thanks jackie
Hi found a web site that list an entire 2 vol. of Hampton NH history. It
has Clough's listed under the surnames.
www.hampton.lib.nh.us/genealog/index.htm
this address was on Essex roots. from RON1050(a)aol.com
It list other names as well, everyone who was in Hampton NH. great site.
Judy and CJ
Well Cousins, I thought you all would like to know that I now have my new
Family Tree maker program installed and I am off an running! I will be
spending the next several days inputting all of the info all over again!
But at least it is working and I am happy about that.
Once I get all of the info in ,then I am going to play around with
everything to see just what this big program will do and won't do. I
cannot wait! Who knows maybe between those of us who already have this
program we can find out more info for everyone!
So things are looking up finally! Now I cn get back to my project!
jackie
Hi Cousins,
I am just going to write what comes into my head to see if one of you
would be so kind to let me know if this still comes out in one long line
or if it is finally wrapped and comes out normal? I would appreciate an
response on this so I can see if I did it correctly!
Thanks,
Jackie
Hi Gang!
I am back and so quickly too! You didn't have time to miss me!
My new email addres just for this list is:
jackieg10(a)juno.com
Please do not send me any attachments to this address. If you are going
to send
any attachments please send them to the other address at algorithms.
This email address I will use just for the Clough L list so that I can
get it
like I am normally suppose to.
See Ya! jackie
Hello all,
Have been stuck on my Clough since I first found his name and am
hoping that someone out there has an answer to this puzzle. I need ANY
information about any of these people.
Zactus CLOUGH born N.H., married before 1843+- to Minerva HOWE
born 22-Mar-1816, Bradford, VT. d:06-Sep-1898, Errol, N.H
as the wife of Ira CARTER.
Children
1. Mahala R. b: abt. 1843 in Canada m:#1 Jared Cone SWEATT
27-Dec-1857 Errol, #2 Lovell K. JORDAN, d:11-Jul-1890 Errol
2. Mira H. b:abt 1845 New York State m: Nathan BEECHER
3. John T. (probably Tillotsen for Minerva's father) b:07-Apr-1847
N.Y. d:23-Sep-1910 Errol, unmarried.
4. Ann b:abt. 1850 N.Y. m: 20-Dec-1873 Millsfield, N.H. Horace
SWEATT. Ann was more than likely born in Canton, St. Lawrence Co.
N.Y. as that is where Zactus was in the 1850 census.
That is about all I know about him, there is a Zactus CLOUGH in the 1830
census for Lyman, N.H. but search of records for that town reveals no
trace of him in the CLOUGH families there. There is a John CLOUGH and
family in the 1850 census for Canton and is near enough to age to have
been a brother to Zack, he was also born in N.H.
Minerva was the daughter of Tillotsen HOWE and Mira/Elmira MUNN I have
the HOWE but not any trace of Mira's people.
I would be grateful for anything!!!
Kitty
Just a note to let you know that Rootsweb may be having a few hours downtime
on Friday. New installations will be going on. This won't affect list
mail. Messages will be queued and will go out when the installations are
finished. Just thought I'd alert you, that if you don't see your messages
coming back to you immediately, that's the reason. Don't panic, there will
just be a delay for a few hours, and then everything will be back to normal.

Hi Sheila,
Jackie is having problems with her server. I've just let her know that she
can still post *to* the list, and I believe list mail is being forwarded to
her, so she'll still be "in touch", but it might take her a bit longer to
respond.

First, what a LOT of work. You are to be highly commended for your time and
patience. I'm glad you mentioned it, because I have a couple of questions
about the original JCGS books, I'm hoping you can answer for me.
1. You mention "sourcing the info". Will the new book be including sources?
As I look in the back of Vol I under "Sources", all I see is a list of
"contributers", "society members" etc. Likewise within the text itself, I
don't see any "sources" listed, that would help me know where to locate the
data presented therein, myself. I hope this is what you mean, that this
time around the data will have valid sources included? Or am I missing the
sources somewhere in the original books??
2. Your second point about "...spouses ancestry where available." Again, by
this do you mean that data on spouses ancestry *will* be included in the new
book where available? I hope that's what you're indicating. I've found it
very frustrating to look up an ancester, know that it was highly likely that
the names of the parents of a "Clough wife" *were* known, because a marriage
date/place is given, but the parents names are not included. Since parents
names are routinely given on birth/marriage/death certs I'm assuming the
authors of the original JCGS books *had* that information available to them,
and chose not to include it. As a result I spent *years* researching to
find the ancestry of Caira Hoisington, wife of James Madison Clough, because
Vol I was a dead end for me. As many of us have recently posted here about
the female lines in the JCGS books just "ending". It would be wonderful to
include spouses ancestry where it's known, in my opinion....

Hi Cousins,
I just wanted to let you all know that I am having some server problems with my email. It seems they have a spam filter and now won't allow any messages from the Clough L to come to me. I am continually being bounced off the list. Therefore, my Uncle Vern has offered to send me any emails that you send to the listing. If any of you should want to contact me privately threw email then that will be fine. All my regular email gets to me. I am going to change servers I believe next month, but won't be until the middle of the month sometime. Until then I won't be listed with the Clough L. I will miss all of your emails that is for sure! I am going to continue to work on my project and will let you know when it is done or if I have any questions I have your email addresses.
Also I wasn't able to "find" my family tree program out there, so I now am the proud owner of the most recent edition of Family Tree Maker Delux, and will start imputting all my (and your) info into it tomorrow. Take care and hope to alk with you all soon. jackie gilligan
Dear Cousins,
Hope all is well with all of you!!
In reguards to the line sent to Liz from Donna Wach, that is my line which I
sent to Tom (Nohitter45). It is not complete so if anyone wishes to have
more complete info please feel free to contact me. Also, my surname is
spelled incorrectly in the list. It is Andersen, not Anderson. The same
goes for my dad's. :-) This is the Danish variation. :-)
Jackie, I believe you have this info already for your project. :-)
Just to let you guys know how I am doing with this book project: I completed
inputting the vital stats from the two volumes of Clough books a while back.
I am in the process of inputting the vital stats of info people have sent
me. This takes some time because I am sourcing the info as I go along. To
date I have over 24,500 individuals in the file which includes John & Janes'
descendants as well as their spouses ancestry where available. You would be
surprised by the connections I have been able to make between families by
having the spouses info in the program.
Jackie's project will be of great assistance to me in this book project as
well since many of you have sent her your ancestry stats.
If anyone has any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to contact me.
A number of you and other's who are in the Clough Society have offered to
assist me in this project and I will definately be calling upon those people
when the time comes. :-)
I wish you all health and happiness!! :-)
Sincerely,
Sheila Andersen
