Billie,
Apparently his e-mail was hacked and being used to send out "not so nice"
web addresses to those in his "address" book. A good reason not to have an
e-mail address book that can be hacked into.
Hope you and Ward are well! :-)
Miss you both!

If you put the email from him into your spam folder that will automatically take you off this list. I know cause I did it accidently. Nothing will happen to your computer as long as you dont open any links in any emails. jackie

David,
Valid points.
And...it was Westminster Cathedral. :-)

It's one thing to admire the pomp, ceremony, and beauty of such a royal
wedding. I'm guilty of turning on the TV at 6AM to watch it, too. It's
an extravaganza, that I didn't want to miss.
My wife (a Clough descendant), and I have been to Winchester cathedral,
and it is an awesome, and overwhelming experience. Just to think, that
we have stood in the same place where this young couple was married, and
where William the Conqueror was crowned King of England is
unforgettable, but we should be reminded of the reality of history
before we idolize, or even admire these people. The history of these
royal families is replete with cruelty, and inhumanity.
I read the list of royal guests at this wedding, and it was full all
those european royal families who have been overthrown, and sent into
exile, but who still get invitations to each other's weddings, and
funerals. A lot of them are related from Queen Victoria.
Where William is flying a rescue helicopter, then that's a good thing. I
don't doubt that most of those royals do good things to please their
constituents, or their fellow countrymen. Where do they get their living
expenses to live their lavish lives? Was it stolen from the central
bank, or taxes from their constituents. I'm glad it's not my money! Good
riddance, Parliament!
They should teach the lessons of history in secondary school. Those who
do not learn them, are doomed to repeat them!

Good luck to them both.
Nevertheless, David's point is well taken. The empire British employed
cruel and barbarous means to suppress the American Revolution.
At the Battle of Long Island, American prisoners of war were slaughtered
in
cold blood.
At least 11,000 American patriots died of starvation and abuse in the
horror
of the
British-Hessian prison ships in the East River of New York City, an unknown
number of our relatives among them.
So here's to the bravery and fortitude of the American patriots who won
our
freedom and
independence. And here's to the miracle of forgiveness, which allows the
U.S. and the UK
to have friendly relation today.

Millie,
Yes, it certainly does! And...they chose NOT to take a honeymoon right
away in favor of William returning to work. :-)
William and Harry are very grounded as royals go - thanks to their mother.

If
you walk in their shoes you may find they work pretty hard.
Thank you for your "other side" version of last weeks events.
In regard to the money spent on the wedding - by virtue of being in that
family one has to have a degree of pomp and circumstance (as man-made as
being royal is). However, LOTS of jobs were created and extended for that
wedding to happen. I am grateful for those hard workers who were better able
to provide for their families because of the part they played in it all.
In regard to that nations history - can't disagree with you on that. Most
nations have been formed that way regardless of how right or wrong they
were.
Peace! :-)

I wouldn't consider it 'nice' to be connected to the Royal Family of
Great Britain, or any other controlling interest of a similar nature.
They had a 1000 year history of enslaving millions of people around the
world, including their own people. I would be more proud to have a
connection to someone who signed the Declaration of Independence. "Don't
Tread on Me!"
Yes, I realize that Prince William had nothing to do with all that
history, but he represents the legacy of his institution. Does anybody
think he would give up all that pomp, ceremony, and veneration, and go
out and get a real job. He hasn't so far!

I felt as if I were there.
Bless you and your family.

We don't know who. There is some speculation that we could descend from
one of Sir Richard Clough's brothers but nothing has been proven.

I have an ancestor who escaped one of those prison ships, and it's quite
a story that sends shivers up your spine. Luckily, he wasn't 'run
through' by a sword, or hung from a hastily made gallows, or I wouldn't
be here. Thank you, grandfather!
