Does anyone have information on this sea captain who lost his life at Half
Way Rock in Maine?
He was my g g grandfather.
Page 189 in the Story of John Clough indicates that he was in command of the
Brig Watson, owned by Messrs. Moulton, Rogers and George Jewett of Portland
when his ship went down.
It also says that his desk and papers were among the wreckage. Would love to
know what happened to these things.
Also, there seems to be a little discrepancy over date of death: The book
says May 1851, and my photo of his tombstone is engraved May 1850. This is of
significance because my g grandfather was born 21 Feb 1849, and his sister was
born in June 1850. Jane B. Clough, Josiah's wife, would have been 8 months
pregnant at the time of her husbands' death.
Thanks
Debbie

I have an interest in the CHRISTIE Family in South Australia and I has been suggested that I try and make contact with Noreen. I notice that she has been a subscriber to this list, albeit a few years back.
