dear ms anderson
my mother and her sisters' maiden name was clough. they are both deceased. i
am led to believe that to have a dna search done to see if i would be party
to your organization it needs to be via the females side as they carry the
genes that identify same. my mother had only two males but her sister had three
daughters who are also deceased. but, they had children whom several are
female. would there dna be applicable ?? they would be my second cousins i
believe or is it too diluted at this point to get a definative answer.
please advise your thoughts on this.
thank you and have a nice holiday.

Greetings, Cousins,
Is anyone willing or able to do a look-up for a birth record in Portland,ME
for Henry Kelsey Clough, (my great-grandfather) born 21 Feb 1849? I also have
a date of 16 Oct 1879 for his marriage to Emma Chandler Ramsdell that I
would like to confirm. This is the only missing link in my primary documentation
from John/Jane to myself.
Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!

Hi Jo,
In my database I have 118 Wood's, 5 of whom where married to Clough's. For
example: Mary Jane Wood married Leonard Clough. They were born, married in,
and lived in Blue Hill, ME.
The book may be quite useful to us. Let us know if you would like to donate
it to the JCGS.

Dear Cousins!
I was in a used book store here in Maine on Friday and there was a very slim volume of genealogical history on the Wood family.
In it there is a connection to the Clough family about the mid 1800's. I had no pencil with me and so didn't/couldn't make note of the names and dates.
I believe the Clough connection was an Otis (?)
and the town was in New Hampshire.
The price on the book was $20. If anyone is interested, let me know.
Jo
I am on your list!

Riley Benjamin Duhaime was born at 10:59 AM at a whopping 8lbs 8oz and 21 inches long!!
Son of Benjamin Duhaime, son of Jo Duhaime, daughter of Olive Northrup, daughter of Clayton Northrup,
son of Ellen Frances Clough
My wife is a descendent of a Joanna Clough, who married James Cram in either
NH (Unity) or Jay, NY (Essex County). The information we have is that she
was born 7 July 1788 at Unity, NH. (Sullivan County?).
James Cram had a 1st wife, Susan (?????). They had three children, Ransom b
ca 1804, James, and John. We understand Susan died very young.
James Cram moved to Jay, NY. We do not know when--or if Susan was still
alive.
Sometime after Susan's death, James Cram married Joanna Clough. We can not
find anything about this marriage. But, they had children. The family moved
to Ohio-- Wyandot or Marion County, Ohio.
Joanna, we understand, was the daughter of Benjamin Clough, b 1757 and
Joanna Young b ca 1760, who lived at Rockingham, NH.
James Cram is buried at Meeker, Ohio. Buried beside him is Joanna Cram,
Wife of James Cram.
James and Joanna had children. One of those, Mary Cram b 1823, is my wife's
ancestor. She married Benjamin Guitteau Britton in 1842. (Known as Gitto).
We would appreciate any information on these people.
Thank you,

Hi Sheila,
When is the deadline for entries? A couple of years ago I started to update
my clough lineage but was so detailed, I couldn't finish it for various
reasons.
Now I would like to include just the basic names/dates/locations, if that's
okay.
Thank you.

Dear Clough Family Members,
The list has been quiet for a while...partly due to my also not
contributing
lately. I have been VERY busy putting in marathon hours in order to finish
our Clough book. I am trying to finish inputting all of the wonderful
information family members have sent so that our book will be as accurate
and up to
date as possible.
Please note - our plan is to have this book printed and ready for sale at
our 2009 annual reunion. It is one of our four main highlights of our 2009
reunion, therefore the book MUST be done and time is of the essence.
If you have not sent me information (and/or did not know to do so) - please
contact me immediately and privately at _CloughGen(a)aol.com_ (mailto:Cloug
hGen(a)aol.com) .
If you have sent me information and have not yet heard from me - feel free
to contact me privately at _CloughGen(a)aol.com_ (mailto:CloughGen@aol.com) .
If you have sent me info via e-mail and attached files - please send me
hard
copies via US mail as well ASAP. The info that has been sent to me
electronically gets the last of my attention because it has to be printed
out and I
don't always have ink to do this.
If you have sent me private e-mail's and have yet to hear back from me - I
will get back to you. Working on the book is taking priority at the
moment.
I work on the book everyday. Therefore, I have not been online much
lately.
In light of our need to have this book finished and to have the information
in it as accurate and complete as humanly possible, I will continue to ask
family members for their assistance in solving genealogical issues that
arise.
The recent issue concerning Winthrop Clough and family is an excellent
example. This issue, by the way, has still NOT been resolved.
In resolving genealogical issues I will need family members to do
additional
research - not just simply check the information you may already have. I
need family members who are willing to look for records and do some
detective
work.
I realize everyone has very busy lives. However, without assistance from
family members in sorting out the genealogical issues this book will NOT be
as
good as it can possibly be.
All those willing to assist in solving some genealogical puzzles, please
contact me privately at _CloughGen(a)aol.com_ (mailto:CloughGen@aol.com) . I
can
certainly guide you in your research if you are unsure as to where to start
looking. However, I simply do not have the time or resources to do all of
the
detective work needed for our new book.
Very Best Wishes to All,

I sent you an email in April or May with a 72-page attachment updating my
wife's Clough family connection going back to #1256 Elbridge Gerry Clough b
1814. He moved to Minnesota quite early in life. His family now lives
primarily in Minnesota and points further west. My wife's mother was born a
Clough and she was a great-granddaughter of Elbridge Gerry. You will find
several hundred Clough family members in the pages I send you, including a
governor of Minnesota and a governor of Washington.
I'll send you a hard copy of the attachment within the next day or two.
After writing and publishing the Sem family history (1161 pages and about
7500 persons from all around the world, originating in Norway) 5 years ago,
I know how much work you are putting in - it is greatly appreciated!
