Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.

I'm new to this group and I am just starting to document my Clough/Currier lines. I have my ancestry pretty well documented up to this marriage and am now facing a challenge as it seems few people have heard of Jemima Clough or John Currier. I am hoping that someone will know of this couple and be able to supply some documentation or help direct me to such documentation. I have the following but much of it is off the www. so is not reliable, some of it is documented such as Dr. John Hall and his line. Any help will be appreciated.

She married JOHN CURRIER8,9 August 29, 1751 in Amesbury, Essex, Ma, son of JOHN CURRIER and RACHEL WHITTAKER. He was born February 04, 1726/27 in Haverhill, Essex Co., Ma, and died September 22, 1801 in Probably Hopkinton, Merrimack Co., N.H10.
Notes for JEMIMA CLOUGH:
A tradition exists and has been passed down by descendants through two centuries that Jemima and her small brother were captured by the Indians when their home on Clough Hill, later called the "Buttonwoods" was burned about 1736. The four older children were living elsewhere, but Mercy, John, Thomas, Elizabeth and Ebenezer and their parents were probably massacred. No records remain of these seven Cloughs. Jemima was hidden in a churn and her brother, Jonathan, in a clock. These two children were taken captive and carried to the village of the Indians in Maine where they were treated with kindness. Years later when a pestilence was raging through the village, a kindly squaw, who remembered their history, returned them to Amesbury. Their brother, Peter, was then living in Salisbury and they may have found refuge in his home.

Of Amesbury and Newbury, MA. And Salem, NH. For a time Jemima and John lived in Amesbury, MA., and in Salem, NH. They moved to Nottingham West (now Hudson, NH) about 1761 - 2 and later but before 1778 went to Hopkinton, NH where their descendants were influential citizens.

Notes for ALICE CURRIER:
This Alice Currier is most often credited to being the wife of John Hall and is in fact the incorrect Alice Currier. Studying John's Rev. War application he gives his wife's age. When the math is done it back's up what was written on her tombstone [no longer existing] that was found next to John's. The correct Alice Currier was b. July 27, 1755 and died January 28, 1839 Preston, Chengango Co New York. If she died at 84 years and died 1839 do the math = she was born in 1755! "Genealogy without documentation is Mythology", this myth started many years ago, but we need to make the corrections NOW!
Buried in Hall Cemetery, Preston, Chenango Co., NY with her husband. Tombstone inscription:

Information on his children's names were obtained from letter of 4 July 1924 from Don Howard Wheeler of Syracuse, NY to Miss Nelle B. Hall.

We recently visited the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and notice that
there was a Clough who was entombed on the ship when the attack took place
in 1941. Does anyone have information about this man.
