Dear Listers,
The possible itinerary for next years trip has changed. Have a look at the
possibilities below:
- Fly into Brussels.
- Visit Leiden (where the Pilgrims lived before heading back to England and
hiring the Mayflower for their transatlantic journey [Rebecca has some
wonderful research to share with the group there as well]) and Antwerp (where Sir
Richard Clough spent a great deal of time in the service of Sir Thomas Gresham -
financial advisor to Queen Elizabeth I).
- Head to Paris.
- Visit Versailles.
- Visit Castle Blain (see 'Descendants of John Clough of Salisbury, Mass.'
vol. I).
- Take a ferry across the English Channel. Head to Salisbury to visit
Salisbury Cathedral and Stonehenge.
- Head to London. Take John Clough walk-about with Rebecca. Perhaps meet
with a few Clough family members there.
- Head to York. Possibly visit Cloughton from there.
- Head into N. Wales for several days. Lots of family places to visit and
family members to meet.
- Take ferry to Ireland. Stay in Dublin.
- Visit Clough Castle in N. Ireland.
- Go home from Dublin.
We are now down to 15 trip members. It would be best to have 20 in the group
so if anyone else is interested in going please contact me ASAP.
We will be changing the dates of the trip as well. We will be going either
later in April or in the beginning of May.
Looking forward to hearing from folks! :-)
Best Wishes,
