Dear Clough Family Members,
Thank you very much for the interest already generated to go on a 'Third
Clough Family Trip to Great Britain!' Those that have contacted me via the list
or private e-mail will be put on my list of interested persons.
Jackie will be putting the information about the possible upcoming trip in
the next issue of the Clough Society bulletin.
Please keep in mind, as I mentioned in my previous e-mail, the exchange rate
is really not in our favor so this trip will cost more for that reason alone.
This trip will also cost more if we extend it to 2 weeks.
I have had at least one couple's interest in going to the European continent
this time around. Rebecca says she will try to get to the places I want to
bring folks sometime this year to check them out. If we decide to go to Europe
then we will have to significantly cut back on the number of places seen in
Britain.
There will have to be a limit on the number of persons I will be able to
include in the trip group so if you are seriously interested please contact me as
soon as you can.
Best Wishes to All,
Sheila Andersen

Dear Clough Family Members,
I am thinking about putting together another 'Clough Family Trip to Great
Britain' and I'd like to know how many would be interested in joining.
My thoughts for this trip are different from the previous two. I am thinking
about going for 2 weeks in mid April 2006 and adding more site seeing
opportunities. However, I would like to hear/read family members ideas for the
itinerary.
My broad idea thus far would be to start off in London, go up to York, up
into Scotland and visit Edinburgh and Glasgow, back down into England and stop in
Chester, then over into northern Wales to hopefully meet up with some Clough
family members and see some of the many Clough family homesteads, possibly
stay at Glasfryn again and/or Portmeirion, head down the Welsh coast and stay in
Swansea or Cardiff, head back into England to stop in Salisbury and check out
Stonehenge, and then back into London.
My other thought was to bring family members onto the European continent via
either the Chunnel or ferry across the English Channel. It might be nice to
see certain parts of France that, it is said, pertain to the Clough's, see the
Bayeau Tapestry, head over to Antwerp where Sir Richard Clough spent a great
deal of time and where he died, and possibly into Hamburg where he also spent
time. However, I have not been to those places on the continent.
If folks wanted to try to do parts of Wales to see Clough related sites and
parts of Europe I am sure that could be arranged. In that case 2 weeks would
certainly be needed.
This e-mail is simply to throw the ideas out there and see what ideas family
members come up with for me. Please feel free to respond either via the list
or to me personally at CloughGen(a)aol.com.
I will also put this out to those who receive the Clough Society quarterly
bulletin. Jackie, has the latest one gone out yet? If not, do you have room to
mention anything? If so, I'll be happy to send you a shortened version to
include in the bulletin.
Looking forward to hearing from folks who are interested in joining the third
'Clough Family Trip to Great Britain' and your thoughts on where you would
like to go.
Best Wishes,
