Betty and I fared well when the remnants of two hurricanes passed through the Atlanta area. However, some nearby areas did have the loss of trees and power. Also, some people in low lying areas experienced flooding from run-off.
I received a note from a cousin in deep southeast Georgia and who said they had nine plus inches of rain and lost power for 12 hours from Hurricane Jeanne. We didn't get but 31/3 inches of rain along with wind.

Hi;
This is Dave from the west coast of Florida, or should I say whats left of
the west coast. Here in Bradenton we didn't have it to bad, we only had about
65 to 70 mph winds, but about 50miles north an east of us the eye passed by. I
was without power for only 15hrs. an not alot of damage around the area, got
2.6 in. of rain,an no trees down on my place.
I was a little disapointed I though I might get to see one of my Emu's fly,
that would be a first.
So all is well at my butter ranch[you know a cheep spread], till next time.

Dear Listers,
I came across an interesting chart showing, in theory, how many direct
ancestors we all have. However, as fun as the chart may be, it is NOT very accurate
since no one has direct ancestors who are not related. Therefore, in
reality, the numbers given below are much higher than real life.
The chart takes us back to the year 1100, to about our 24th great
grandparents, based on three generations per century and an average age of 33 at the
birth of the next generation.
Hope you enjoy! But, again, remember it is NOT very accurate because we all
have ancestors who are related to each other.
Best Wishes,
Sheila Andersen

WARNING: Genealogy Pox (very contagious to adults)
SYMPTOMS: Continual complaint as to need for names, dates, and places.
Patient has a blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no
taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries
and courthouses. Has compulsion to write letters. Swears at mailman when he
doesn't leave mail. Frequents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins, and
remote desolate country areas. Has strange, faraway look in eyes.
NO KNOWN CURE
TREATMENT: Medication is useless. Disease is not fatal but gets
progressively worst. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogical
magazines, and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be
alone.
REMARKS: The unusual nature of this disease is the sicker the patient gets,
the more he or she enjoys it!

Hi;olled
I live on the west coast of Florida in a town called Bradenton, The
first
storm Charley came a shore south of us and the second storm exeded north
of us
in Tampa. The winds got up to about 50 or 60 mph in gusts. I didn't have
any
damage at my place, but the towns about 60mi.east of us got hit by both
of the
storms.
Now we got another headed our way, ya'll pray for us.

DEAR MS ANDERSON,
I RECENTLY GOT YOUR EMAIL WHICH BEGS A WHOLE BUNCH OF QUESTIONS RELATIVE
TO MY MATERNAL GRANDFATHER WHOSE NAME WAS WILLIAM D. CLOUGH WHO PASSED AWAY
IN FRAMINGHAM,MASS. IN 1943. I KNOW HE CAME FROM PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND,NS AND
WAS MARRIED TO MY GRANDMOTHER IN 1909 BUT NOT SURE WHERE. I HAVE A LITTLE
MORE INFO BUT NOT ENOUGH TO REALLY GEY MY TEETH INTO TO PURSUE IT FURTHER. NOT
EVEN SURE IF WE WOULD QUALIFY TO BE PART OF THE CLOUGH GROUP PER SE.
ANY THOUGHTS ON HOW OR WHERE TO PURSUE THIS FURTHER WOULD BE GREATLY
APPRECIATED AS I AM A NOEPHYTE IN THIS ENDEAVOR.
YOUR CONSIDERATION AND ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY
APRRECIATED.
THANK YOU: STEVE BRELSFORD
PS. GOOD LUCK WITH THE BABY.
Dear Listers,
Our list has been very quiet these days. I hope everyone has been enjoying
the summer and any vacations you may have taken.
A big WELCOME goes out to all of you who have recently signed onto the list!
I encourage all of you to please send me your Clough lineage. I also
encourage all of you who have lineage back to John Clough to join the John Clough
Genealogical Society. By so doing, you will receive our quarterly bulletins.
The 65th Annual Reunion of the John Clough Genealogical Society was a huge
success!! Our hostess, Rita Clough, put on quite a day for us all in Castleton,
VT! Many thanks go to her and her son, Langdon, for all the hard work and
effort put into making our 65th reunion great fun!
We had many new faces at this year's reunion. Many of them were travelers
from the latest Clough Family Trip to Great Britain I led back in September of
2003. I will lead additional trips but probably not until the Spring or Fall
of 2006. So, all those interested, start saving your pennies!
My little boy is still incubating and will be born via c-section Oct. 26. I
look forward to "meeting" the little man that moves around a lot and has been
pushing my belly out. :-)
This pregnancy has proven to be quite difficult for me. Therefore, I am off
of work until after my son is born. Financially this makes things difficult
but at least I have been able to use some of this time to do some catching up
on my genealogy correspondences and inputting data into my genealogy program to
be used for the new Clough book.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the recent storms in
Florida. When our Florida listers are back online and able to e-mail once
again, I encourage them to contact the list and let us know how they are getting
on. The destruction in Florida is great but hopefully there will be very
little loss of life.
When we are confronted with violent acts of nature, violent acts of man,
accidents, or illness we tend to better appreciate our own families and friends.
However, may we all appreciate our families and friends on a daily basis so
regret will not creep into our lives should anything happen.
I hope this e-mail finds all of you well and I encourage you all to continue
using the list for Clough queries and information.
Best Wishes,
Sheila Andersen
