Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Sheila,
Hit the start, and check programs and see if 5.0 is still there. If so,
click on that and see if that brings back the old aol.
Or go into start, and go to find, then put in key word PCF, and see if
that brings it up.
Good luck cuz, and give the little one a big kiss for me.
Love and Happy New Year
Ronnie
Another possibility, if you run WinXP, is System Restore to return your
system to a previous date, perhaps before email was lost.
System Restore by default, when Windows in installed, is setup to Auto-Save
a Restore Point once a month.
Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools
Launch and check out the Help Menu.

OK,
Here's the quickest possible solution I found.
"File-Saver" software
Need to urgently recover those deleted files? Want to permanently delete
that private data?
Introducing File-Saver, the latest piece of software to rock the computer
world. Instantly restore hundreds of files that have been deleted from your
computer - no matter whether they were deleted by another program, or
emptied from the Recycle Bin. If it's been deleted, you can undelete it.
And then there are times when you really want to ensure no-one can see any
of those private documents and files that were once on your machine.
File-Saver handles that too, completely obliterating any trace your old
files were ever there.
Special offer: order before midnight, Sunday, for just $14.97!
Bargain? Our rivals sell similar, yet slower and less-functional undelete
products and services for between $39 and $400. Check out Winternals at $39,
Quetek at $40, or R-TT at $149 to see what the competition are up to.
Compare our features. We're the best of the crowd, which is why more than
400,000 users have picked us to rescue their files.
Customers of our products include the U.S. Army, Microsoft, AT&T, IBM,
FedEx, British Telecom, UPS, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Network Solutions, Sun,
Deloitte & Touche, Dow Jones, Merrill Lynch, the Discovery Channel, Time
Warner, Nationwide Insurance, Xerox, and many more.
File-Saver.com v3 Software Features
Instantly displays hundreds of deleted files from any drive on your
computer, including floppies and SmartMedia!
Allows you to quickly erase all confidential data, by wiping out all the
hidden "undelete" data from your PC
Get an exact report on the integrity of the file, allowing you to check its
condition before running an undelete!
Hope you see this today!
Regards,
David Sims
Merry Christmas!
Of course, it isn't very merry to lose a wealth of saved emails.
I'm sure you've 'bonked' your head for not saving them to CD,
so we won't go into that.
Now, I know there is a way to save files even when they have been
deleted from the Recycle Bin. You see, they are still stored on the
hard drive, BUT....each time you subsequently Save, or install something
new they are very likely to replace those files previously deleted.
The real purpose of the Recycle Bin is to give you a convenient means
of retrieving files you have mistakenly deleted and realize it.
Yes, this email you sent and saved could have done that, so
something you would like to retrieve may be permanently lost.
I have saved files after they have been emptied from the Recycle Bin,
but not emails deleted, or lost by some other reason.
I am going to start a search for any means possible to retrieve deleted
emails and advise you ASAP.
I fear they may be lost for good, because they are not transferred to the
Recycle Bin, but deleted directly from the hard drive.

David Sims
Hi,
If I understand this correctly, if you have not corrupted the AOL file
on you "C" (hard drive) you should be able to find all of the messages on that
drive. I have CompuServe which is a subsidiary of AOL and mine are on the
hard drive.
Does this help or did I not correctly understand the question.

Dear Listers,
A couple weeks ago I upgraded my AOL from 5.0 to 9.0. Somehow in the process
I lost my old saved e-mail on all of my accounts as well as my signatures.
However, I was able to call AOL tech support and got all of it back.
Then, last week I went to check on some old e-mail on my CloughGen screen
name - the address I use for genealogy - and noticed that all of my 2003 and all
of my 2004 up to November had disappeared. Not good!! This means two years
of saved genealogy e-mail is gone! The weird thing is that this only happened
on my CloughGen screen name and not my others.
After half an hour on the phone with AOL tech support I was told they could
not help me. Does anyone have any ideas for me? As the Genealogist for the

Hello Society Members
I need to say Im sorry that this Dec bulletin will not be going out until
right after the first of the year. With so many things ( the deaths, births
and a house full of company) happening around here I just havent had the time
or energy to do it. So I hope you all will forgive the lateness.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season

Many thanks to all of you who sent well wishes! :-) I have photos I can
share via e-mail so please e-mail me privately if you are interested in
receiving any.
Best Wishes To All,
