Dear Cousins,
Sheila Andersen gave me the privilege of announcing the birth of her
beautiful baby boy who was born today, 26 Oct 2004, at 9:13 a.m. Both mommy and baby
are doing great! I will leave the details for Sheila to share with you when
she gets home.
Your cousin,
Linda Freehling
Dear Listers,
Time is fast approaching for the birth of my son. He is scheduled to be born
via c-section Tuesday (Oct. 26) morning at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT.
However, the way I have been feeling these past couple of days, I wonder if
he wants out a little sooner. Time will tell. :-)
Anyone who is nearby is free to stop by to see us when I have returned home
by the end of the week. I will be home for several weeks, at least, while I
recover and get used to caring for my son 24/7. Anyone who wishes is more than
welcome to call. My contact details may be found in any 'Clough Society'
bulletin.
Since I have not been feeling very well lately I have not gotten back to all
who have had genealogy questions. If I am unable to do so before entering the
hospital, I will certainly get to everyone at some point after I have been
back home and have recovered a bit.
Since my confinement of being home with pregnancy complications I have made
more headway on the new Clough book. Completion of this book is still some
time away as it takes quite a while to go through the information that is sent to
me. One of the frustrating things I encounter when going through the
information that is sent are finding multiple dates and places for births, marriages,
and deaths. I have found multiple dates and places within one individuals
information as well as between different individuals who have submitted
information on the same people. As I try to stress in my letters to family members, I
need family members to research their own lines to get as accurate
information as possible. When I have multiple dates and places for one event I simply
cannot do the needed research to seek out the appropriate information.
Still, I encourage family members to send me what they have on their lines.
As most of you know, once I have had the chance to enter your information into
my database I will send you what I have to date on your line(s). Some of you
have been surprised with the added information I have been able to send you
thanks to others working on the same line(s).
After I have returned home from the hospital and have recovered a bit I will
once again be checking my e-mail. I ask, however, for a little patience when
wishing to hear back from me as, I am sure, caring for my new son will prove
to be quite time-consuming.
I wish all of you the very best!

I am looking for information on Samuel Clough of Franklin County Indiana who
appeared in the 1830 census there. In 1820 a William Clough is also located.
Even though their name is spelled Coe I feel I have the correct family as my
other Grandfather Edward Blackburn is also located there. Any information would
be greatly appreciated. I think they may be from the Kentucky Clough family
as Alexander Clough was in Clark County Illinois along with my other Clough
family. Wanda
Congrats Uncle Vern! love jackie

Good Evening Family,
I just want to let everyone know that last night my wife and I became
grandparents for the very first time. Our son, Jeffrey's wife Elizabeth
gave birth to Alexandria Siobhan Clough on October 11, 2004 at 7:38pm.
She weighs 7pounds and 8 ounces and is 19 and a half inches long.
We hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Brian Clough, 69, soccer manager
By Stephen Wilson
Associated Press
Derby, England - Brian Clough, the charismatic coach who led Nottingham
Forest to consecutive European Cup titles in 1979-80 and became known as the "best
manager England never had," died Monday at Derby City General Hospital. He
was 69.
Mr. Clough, who also managed Derby County, had stomach cancer, his family
said.
Mr. Clough, who battled alcoholism toward the end of his career, had a liver
transplant in 2003.
He won nine major trophies during his 18-year stint with Nottingham Forest
and was one of the most colorful, and respected figures in English soccer.
"The success he had here goes down as one of the great football achievements
of all," Forest chairman Nigel Doughty said. "Wherever you go in the world,
the city of Nottingham has become synonymous with Robin Hood and Brian Clough."
Mr. Clough, famous for his quips, once said: "I wouldn't say I was the best
manager in the business. But I was in the top one."
Apparently considered too outspoken for the job, he never coached England's
national team.
Mr. Clough appeared in only two games for England before knee injuries ended
his playing career at age 29. He scored 251 goals as a forward for
Middlesbrough and Sunderland.
He began his managerial career with Hartlepool from 1965-67. He managed
Derby from 1967-73, steering the side to the second division title in 1969 and its
first top flight championship in 1972.
After brief spells with Brighton and Leeds, Mr. Clough managed Nottingham
Forest from 1975 until his retirement in 1993.
Forest won the English league title and League Cup in 1978, the European Cup
and League Cup in 1979, and the European Super Cup and European Cup in 1980.
Forest also won the League Cup in 1989 and 1990.
Only one British manager won more European Cups, with Bob Paisley leading
Liverpool to three titles.
Dear Listers,
In a following e-mail I will include the obituary for Brian Clough as seen in
the Boston Globe newspaper 9/25/04. John R. Clough, Treasurer for the JCGS,
sent it to me and I thought I would share it with all of you.
Brian Clough was a famous football (aka soccer) coach in England. When my
Clough group and I were in Great Britain last year, the reporter for Wales TV
News tried contacting Brian to have him included in the Clough piece he was
doing on my group. However, Brian was ill even then so the reporter could not
include him.
I have wanted to try and contact Brian to have him included in our Clough
Surname DNA Study but contacting famous individuals can be difficult at best for
those of us not in the news media. However, I think he has a son and I will
try to contact the son at some point. It would be really neat to find out what
the DNA pattern is for this Clough family.
Best Wishes,
Sheila Andersen
