Hi all,
I've been trying to track down the parents of my g-g-g-grandfather Alonzo
Clough, who ended up in Oxford Ohio. After more than a year of searching, I
finally got around to looking at the US Census and found that in the 1860
census, his birthplace in listed as Massachusetts, and in the 1840 census, he is
listed as a head of household (having married in 1837), next to the
aforementioned Asahel Clough, who is 20 - 30 years older. So now I can't find any
information on the net about this Asahel Clough. Anyone recognize this name? Thanks,
John Carl Brown
Hey Langdon,
It is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is solely
dedicated to art of the Middle Ages, inculding the architecture. So everything in
there to begin with is creepy. We have the famous Unicorn Tapestries,
wonderfull sculptures and Garth Gardens surrounded by Cloister walkways. So, on a good
day you are transported back to the time period, imagine during the black out.
Oh, don't forget our bell tower, we were watching the bats in the park fly
around us. It was a great experience that night, you felt like you were in a
real medevil castle from jolly ole England.
Peace
Ronnie
Hey there Cousins,
I had a very interesting and entertaining evening the night that the
lights went out again in New York City.
I spent the evening stuck at work in the " Cloisters Museum." Now that
was an adventure. It was very spooky after the sun set, but the staff survived.
I tell you our ancestors had it very difficult without eletricity. The castle
is so creepy and the noises provided me with a back drop to tell good Ghost
stories and scare the remaining staff.
I hope everyone else faired out o.k.
Peace,
Ronnie NYC
BJ,
I am also a descendent of John Clough and live in Oklahoma. I'm in Tulsa where are you?

Hello;
I am BJ Dale, you recently wrote me about Anne Clough, I am sorry to say
my research only goes back to John Clough. What line are you in? Where are
you located, I am in Oklahoma.
Would love to learn more of what you have found.
I am so sorry I have not answered sooner, but August is a very busy time
of the year, as if every month isn't busy......love hearing from my Clough
cousins, I am a direct descendant of John Clough.
Hope to hear more from you~BJ Dale

Hi all from Greene, New York. Power outage, what power outage? Here in Greene
right in the middle of all of the commotion only a small flicker at 4:11pm
yesterday. The countryside all around us, from NY City to Ottawa, cast into
darkness. I don't know how we avoided the crash but I guess someone of greater
power than us mortals was looking over us here in Greene.
George
Patricia,
"Everything is OK in California" seems to be an exaggeration! 145
candidates for Governor on one ballot?
How come no Clough on the ballot?
Good Luck,
Cousin Dean

Dear Clough Cousins,
Many of our Clough cousins have been affected by this huge power outage. May
our thoughts and prayers continue to be with them as the power slowly comes
back.
Thank goodness where I live and work in CT our power went off at the group
home I work in but immediately returned. Others on the western and southern
edges of this state were not so fortunate.
I was finally able to text message (via cell phone) a friend in NYC this
morning. Unfortunately, like most at this point, those with cell phones are
running low on battery power, especially if they do not have car chargers. My
friend is OK but was unable to text more because of short cell phone battery life.
Just one example of what people all over the affected area are experiencing.
It goes to show just how much we rely on electricity in this day and age.
When our Clough cousins are once again able to contact us, I invite them to
use the list to let us know that all is well and to give us short versions of
their experiences in the 'Blackout of 2003.'
Best Wishes To All!

Hello BJ,
I, too, descend from John Clough of Salisbury, MA. You can see my Clough
line on my web page at An Estey Family Genealogy and More, click on Clough which
will start with John of Salisbury, MA. At this time I reside in upstate New
York although I am a native to California.
What my query was about was I found Anne Clough in my wife's line. Anne was
born in Ubbeston, Suffolk County, England about 1610. She married Edward
Pierson Jr., 22 Dec. 1631 in Haveningham, Suffolk County, England. They had a male
child named Stephen Pierson born in 1642.
I was just wondering if anyone might have any information on this Anne and
who her parents/siblings were. If she might have connections to Sir Richard
Clough as does our John Clough (see DNA info at the John Clough Genealogical
Society web page). It would be interesting to find my wife and I were distant
Clough cousins.
George

While researching my wife's genealogy I discovered possible but distant
Clough tie. I wonder if this Anne Clough was a relation to our John?

Hi Liz,
As far as I know, there is no sign up nor is there a fee. Anyone interested
may contact the Cape Cod Gen. Society in order to verify.
I am very much hoping our JCGS treasurer, John Clough, and his wife, Jane,
may be able to be in attendance as he is in the presentation and lives on the
Cape (hint hint John!). :-)
Hope all is well on the west coast! :-)
All the Best,
Sheila
Hi Irene,
Please feel free to have a look at the "John Clough Genealogical Society"
website where you will be able to see most of our Clough/Cluff/Clow participants
DNA results (http://ourworld.cs.com/cloughgenl/). :-)
My Oxford Ancestors boss is snail mailing me an updated version of the chart
so I will have to get a move on and update the website chart with our
webmaster, George Estey.
Thanks very much for the good wishes for the trip! :-) I am VERY MUCH
looking forward to meeting those I haven't yet met, seeing again those I know,
showing them the places we will be seeing, and introducing them to the
individuals we will be meeting! :-) It is certainly exciting to be able to do this
and I feel it to be a great honor as well.
All the Best,
Sheila Andersen
Sheila, are there any other details? Like do folks need to sign up, phone #
for the Brewster library, fee schedule. Thanks! Liz

Dear Cousins,
One of my GILMAN cousins was looking through his papers and found deeds for
CLOUGH folks in Columbia, California, around mostly 1859, and he is wondering
who they are:
James P. CLOUGH and wife Mary (deed 1856)
Nathaniel CLOUGH
David M. CLOUGH
D.B. T. CLOUGH (three initials is really unusual)
Do any of these seem familiar?
Your secret cousin,
Linda F.
Sheila,
Just wondering if there is a list of all those
who had their DNA tested to see if they
are related to our CLOUGHS?
Regards and a safe trip,
Irene Clough Hahn
