Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Thanks for the emails about this. Yes I have contacted aol and they
suggested that I change my password. Which I have done, but the emails still
keep coming. And they still keep going to others in my address book. It is
like being stalked George. I feel like I am being violated and that my
friends are also being violated because of it. I am going to keep track of
it for the rest of the week and if it doesnt stop by this weekend aol told me
to call them back. Its very frustrating for me as now I am afraid to open
any email, and that feeling is terrible for someone who does genealogy!
Once again, I am sorry for sending this to the list, but I honestly felt I
should notify the list as I do send emails to it and to some of the members
privately and this does reflect potential problems. jackie

Jackie,
I have downloaded the latest from Norton AV and just ran it against my hard
drives. No hits so my disks are clear.
This type of harassment is like stalking. I don't know if there are any laws
that cover this kind of cheap trick but there ought to be. You say that the
jokes seem to come from people on your mail list. Have you asked your service
provider for help. I believe they would have some means to track this garbage
and find where it is really coming from.

Hello All
Well just want to keep you all up to date. It seems someone is having a
good time with my email address and is now sending eveyone in my email
address book dirty jokes! (I had at least 20 of them in my in box tonight
from names in my address book!) If you should get one from my address please
dont open it. I DO NOT send dirty jokes out or dirty web site addresses out
to anyone at all!
I also want to let you know that I have done a complete scan on my system and
it does not contain any virus - especially that one called w32.klec.gen@mm
so please check your systems for this virus and please be aware that I really
didnt send it to anyone - if you should have it. I am very sorry about all
of this. I am going to call aol and see if they think I should change my
email address to stop this.

Yes Liz, I descend from John down from his sons Daniel and Moses as Daniels
son David married Moses' daughter Hannah. Their child, Lydia, married James
Theodore Sloggy and their daughter Mae Lydia married my grandfather George
Willard Estey.
George
Jackie,
I had weird emails that happened last summer, WHILE I WAS GONE. I called
AOL they basically said someone hacked my password. I changed my password
and it did not reoccur.

There is the Sons of the American Revolution but the DAR will have records on
any family who has applied including the men. Men are welcomed to their
library, records, etc.
Liz,
Isn't there a related organization for males? I believe as a young teenager
I attend several meetings at Lacy Park, San Marino, California, where I
lived with my parents. That was a long time ago! My Clough line (John b.
1760 d. 1847 - served at Stillawter, Saratoga and wintered at Valley Forge),
amoung others, has Patriots who served during the American Revolution.

Hello Again
If you should find you do in fact have that virus I wrote about earlier then
please go to
http://www.norton.com site. This is a very dangerous "worm" and can distroy
your system. On this site you can access the instructions on how to get rid
of this worm. (that is if you have Norton Anti virus program. If you dont
then I suggest you go and get the program. It is the only program out there
that can get rid of this worm.
This site will also explain how this worm goes about from one email to the
other. jackie

Just for the sake of trivia, my family immigrated from England to America in
1635 and has been here ever since. Whether or not some of my Clough's went
from America to Australia, I don't know. The names are common enough. I
have a Thomas Clough in my line as well, but he was born in the 17th
century. My contact has been the John Clough Geneaological Society in
Massachusetts. They have been very helpful in filling in some of my gaps.
Whether or not they have information about Cloughs in Australia, I don't
know.
Best wishes.

Thanks for that
my Clough started with a Thomas Clough who married a Johanna (Hannah)
SULLIVAN in 1856 in Sydney NSW Aust.
they had Thomas F, male,Emily A, William, Frederick and Louisa J.
I can not find out where he came from or who his parents are.
on the NSW BDM there were 57 Clough marriages between 1800-1889 so you can
