Hello,
I am seeking any information anyone might have on the Cloudman
family. My paternal grandmother was a Cloudman.
I have bits and pieces of information, but am seeking whatever I
can find.
These are some of the tidbits I presently have:
I am descended from an Edward Cloudman who was kidnapped by
Indians and drowned in Lake Champlain after escaping. His wife later
married an Anderson.
The Cloudman's were originally Cloutman and came from Scotland,
settling first in Marblehead, Massachusetts. There were two brothers who
came. Some of the people retained the name Cloutman and others changed
it to Cloudman. I have no idea when the change came or why.
They settled later in the Gorham or Paris, Maine area. I
remember relatives talking about a farm near Gorham.
My Cloudman line moved later to the Lynn, Massachusetts area
where my roots were as a child.
I would appreciate any information anyone might have.
