Subject: [CLOUD] Rifle and Pistol estate sale
Fellow gun guys:
The attached are photos of rifles and hand guns I have available for sale
from the estate of my father-in-law. There are no prices listed but if you
see something of interest let me know and I can send better pictures and
give you a background on each firearm. I understand that there is a blue
book and ten web pages will offer a firearm for ten different prices. I
intend to sell them all so if you offer a fair price and pay the shipping
I'm
sure we can work something out.
In Arizona I can hand you the gun and you can drive off. Sending it to
California will involve someone with a gun store (Randy?) or someone that
has
the appropriate license. But certainly we can do that since none of these
firearms are assault weapons. Speaking of Randy, if anyone has his gun
shop e-mail would you please send the pictures along.
Again, I'll be happy to provide more detailed photos and other information
as needed. The previous owner was a lifelong shooter and competed around
the country in the NRA high power silhouette matches. His guns were well
cared for and the optics are all good quality. Any work that was done was
by a gunsmith and he kept good records on each piece.
I also have complete reloading equipment and supplies but that probably
wouldn't be worth the weight of shipping it and if you're reloading you
already have all that. But if there is something you need let me know and
I'll
see if it's here. I have a garage and a storage building full of things.
You can reach me here at this e-mail or at _lscbc2(a)gmail.com_
(mailto:lscbc2@gmail.com) or my cell phone is 480-354-0630. I have all
these guns for
sale here in Arizona so I can't guarantee everything will be available, but
if you're serious about something drop me an email and I'll hold it for
you while you make shipping arrangements.
Regards,
Larry Cloud

My apologies for accidently sending out a file regarding a gun collection to the roots-web page. It was a miss-click on my part as I went down my personal e-mail list.

Hi Tom,
Are you referring to William Cloud who married Alice Hardin or to a son of his by the same name? Among William and Alice's children are Joseph Cloud and Sinah Cloud (should properly be spelled as in Gaelic as Seana and pronounced Shawna, but people who could read in the 1700s tended to pronounce things exactly the way they looked). Sinah married Nathaniel Ford, brother of my fifth great-grandfather, William Gardner Ford. Both the Ford brothers lived in Fairfield County, next to Kershaw County SC where I think William Cloud and Alice Hardin Cloud were married and lived.
If you want to follow the children of William and Alice Hardin, please let me know. I have lots of info.

I believe it's likely from the information given in your query is that this is the same William Cloud who married Alice Hardin in Kershaw County SC, possibly in the town of Camden. One of their children was Sinah Cloud who married Nathaniel Ford of Fairfield County (next to Kershaw). Nathaniel was the brother of my fifth great-grandfather, William Gardner Ford. Both the Ford brothers lived in Fairfield County.
There's an interesting story told about Sinah, who had beautiful long, black hair as a young woman. She suffered from alopecia (total hair loss) and had to wear wigs the rest of her life. The circumstances weren't provided in the story. She may, for example, have suffered from typhoid fever and her hair never grew back. However, spontaneous sudden loss of all hair is most often associated with the body's reaction to some overwhelming stress. To me, living out on the frontier without modern conveniences (I think a modern hotel without room service is primitive!) would cause huge stress. All humor aside, I honor and admire our forebears who had the courage and fortitude to live far from big cities and in houses without the amenities we take for granted. At the same time, I'm glad I was born in the 20th century.
I have a great deal of information on Sinah Cloud's and Nathaniel Ford's descendants if anyone wants to know more about this couple.

Hello - I'm the great-granddaughter of George Elmer Cloud who was born in
Arkansas in 1889. His family moved to California. Three generations later,
we finally had two males (twins) born in our family. I had these twins, and
they're still alive. All the other boys died at birth. My
great-grandmother's, grandmother's, and mother's boys died at birth.
When I was younger, my grandmother told me we were related to Thomas
Jefferson due to one of our uncles married into the family. I was also told
our family member who immigrated to the USA was from Wales. However, I
could be incorrect. My great-grandfather was a Mason, and my
great-grandmother was an Eastern Star. My grandmother was in Job's
daughers. I use to have a pedigree chart my great-grandfather put together,
but it was tragically lost. However, I believe the Masons have it on file
in their archives.
George Adolphus Cloud (1862-1939) was my great-great-grandfather and John
Farmer Cloud (1838-1912) was my 3rd great-grandfather.
