If this is Miles in 1880, then his mother has remarried.

FRAZER, William, 3
FRAZER, Wyet, 1
CLOUD, Misouri, 13
CLOUD, Prince, 7
CLOUD, Miles, 9
** I made a 10 year error transcribing the 1900 census -- I read 1857 when it should have been 1867 (he was 32 years old, not 42 years old).
The dates of birth for Miles as I find them in the census:
1880 - about 1871
1900 - April 1867
1910 - about 1868
1920 - about 1867
Assuming he was born after 1870, and that his mother's name was Margaret, this family sure looks like his -- Missouri is his sister in 1880:
1870 census, SC, Chester, Landsford
CLOUD, Judson, 30
CLOUD, Margaret, 28
CLOUD, Missouri, 6
CLOUD, William, 4/12
That means his parents were Judson and Margaret CLOUD.

I assume the Elison Cloud on WW-I draft registration is Miles' son as he was born the same month and year as on the 1900 census. That form says he was born in Blythewood, Richland cty, SC., which is about 50 miles S of Landsford, Chester cty. That would mean at least his mother was in Richland county in 1893. Ellison is living in Level, Richland cty for 1930 census.
Perhaps someone will read this and find something I can't.
WRT any African American ancestry for Miles -- I am administrator for the Cloud DNA Project and have a little knowledge of what that can do to help you. An autosomal DNA test can give clues as to ethnicity in one's ancestry. If you'll take a look at the presentation I gave last year, you can see examples of what the results look like:
http://mykindred.com/dna/cfg2010dna/
... look about 1/2 way down to see the graphic for different people from current ethnic groups to see what their DNA shows about their inherited ethnicity.
We will be discussing DNA at the upcoming Cloud Family Gathering in San Antonio, TX this July. You are not required to be a member of the Cloud Family Association to attend:

There might be a problem with your assumption that Ellison is Miles' father:
Ellison would have been 25 in 1857, which is reasonable for him to be Miles' father, but, according to the census, Ellison didn't marry Rosaline until 1865, so (1) the date given the census enumerator is wrong, (2) Miles was born to a previous wife of Ellison or (3) Miles was born before they married.

According to the 1900 census, Miles didn't marry until about 1892, so you'd think he might have been living with his parents in 1880, but I can't find either him or his parents in 1880 or in 1870 SC censuses. (I didn't look in any other state.)

So glad to have finaly found the Cherokee line, my Mama knew was there.

Hi,
It sounds like you've done a lot more work on the Burks than I have. As I don't even have any of Eli Burks brothers in my tree.
I got the name of Lucille from a transcription of her obituary - from the Mcleansboro Times, Mar 26, 1926 which is availbable online at
http://www.carolyar.com/Illinois/Obits/Kirk.htm
Her headstone reads Lucy C. Kirk.
