Our DNA Project has received another test result for an "orphan" line -- that of Robert Mercer Cloud
http://mykindred.com/cloud/TX/getperson.php?personID=I149615&tree=mykindr...
The test results clearly indicate that this line is related to the line of Joseph Cloud who was born 1710 in Pennsylvania (Robert was born 1818 in PA).
Because of that, I have placed the line of Robert Mercer Cloud under that of John Rhinehart -- both of which clearly belong to the line of Joseph Cloud b. 1710 PA.
The test is for kit # 139929.
The results can be seen at the DNA results page:
http://mykindred.com/cloud/dna/results/cdnareport.php
... if you will click on the kit number, you can see the markers which are different between the man that tested for this line and the other lines.
This line differs from that of Joseph and John Rhinehart by a single mutation at DYS-570. Looking at the line of William the immigrant (at the top), it can be seen that all the participants have a value of 19 at DYS-570 except the first two, which share the value of 18 with the line of Joseph and of John Rhinehart. It's possible that the 19 for Robert Mercer's line is recent and therefore not meaningful to us or it could imply that his line split off of that of William the immigrant earlier than that of Joseph.
thanks,
Tom Cloud

My grandmother was Alice Merkison -- could her maiden name be Cloud? Are you indian? My grandfather Will Merkison was interracial -- was that from a plantation of Merkisons -- all serving as confederates during the civil war? Alice and Will had 10 children. George was my father. The European Merkisons hailed from a small section of Scotland. There is no other place they can be found in Europe.
I am looking for pictures -- thank you carrie merkison gingrich
