Hi Cec and others:
In response to the subject message, a copy of which follows, I do recall
running in to the Greenberry Cloud name during research on my Cloud family
ancestors. However, I don't think there was a direct connection with my William
Cloud line of VA and South Carolina who migrated to Madison County, AL, during
the early 1800's; and settled in the Clouds Cove area of that county.
My book, From Wagons To Spaceships, which was published in 1993, is no
longer available for sale. However, a micro-film copy can be secured and viewed
through most LDS Family History Centers in major USA cities and elsewhere,
world wide. There is usually a small charge for shipping costs at most LDS Family
History Centers, but use of their microfilm readers are normally free.
Hard copies of the book are also available at several libraries in CA and in
many large libraries in the southeastern states, plus the Library of
Congress; some libraries will do inter-library loans. The book has a lot of
information on my Cloud family line and those with whom they intermarried over the
years. My Cloud line connects back to the William Cloud from England that was
an early settler with the William Penn Colony in PA.
I am no longer actively doing genealogical research. Currently, I am getting
ready to travel to Paris, France, where my daughter Ann and her adult
triplet children live. They will be helping me celebrate my 88th birthday!
Incidentally, there is a town near Paris that is named Cloud!
Bye for now.

Anyone have any idea who the parents are for Daniel Cloud who married Almira Mayall?
http://mykindred.com/cloud/TX/getperson.php?personID=I144319&tree=mykindr...
Some people have assigned Bayliss Cloud as his father -- but that can't be correct. There are different census records for each of them and they have different wives and children.
Daniel Cloud who m. Almira Mayall also married Mary Rogers and Sarah Allen. The 1850 census he is in Whitewater, Hamilton, OH and has him born in Iowa and the 1860 census has him born in Kentucky.
The Daniel Cloud, s/o Bayliss Cloud (who m. Elizabeth Tebbs)
http://mykindred.com/cloud/TX/getperson.php?personID=I52323&tree=mykindred01
.... married Naomi Hathaway and Elizabeth Tumey. In 1850 he was in Harrison, Dearborn, IN and the census says he was born in Indiana.

Elmer Eads, b: 16 Sep 1896, d: May 1972, last residence: 24281 (Rose Hill, Lee, VA), SSN: 226-18-6287 issued VA.
Other EADS who list ZIP 24281 as last residence in SSDI are:

Bessie Eads, b: 21 Jun 1898, d: Feb 1986, last residence: 24281 (Rose Hill, Lee, VA), SSN: 347-34-0996, issued Illinois
As you can see, the dates of this Bessie Eads are different than the ones you show. Of course, this Bessie Eads may not be your Bessie Campbell.

According to the note for Jennie, I must have originally had her as a child of Benjamin Cloud and Margaret Ayers and I decided to remove her as she doesn't show up with them on any census.
I encourage you to join the Cloud email list on rootsweb. Just send an email with the word subscribe in the subject or the body to

The only info I have on Jennie is from census'. Her birthyear is 1872 /- a few. My question is this: I have seen some info that Jennie is really Virginia Cloud. Can anyone help me confirm this? A death look up for Elmer would be great or a marriage for Elmer and Bessie that might list parents. An even bigger find would be Jackson/John R and Jennie's marriage. Thank you, Tina Eads

Raymond, this Martin is probably my guy. Thank you for this information. The Martin that I am trying to connect had 4 children. Anna, Sarah and James, Anna and Sarah are common names in the Jeremiah/Noah line. So I have probably been on the wrong trail for years. Thank you, again.

Thank you, Harry. This William was in the SC during the Rev. In 1790-1805 time frame in Edgefield,SC There was a Martin Cloud. I have been trying to connect him to someone.
On another note, in Cherokee CO. GA I have seen records for a Jesse Cloud and a Jerre Cloud. Jerre is called Jesse in the printed or typed records because of the way he wrote his name. His R's looked like S's.

The 1865 was just a guess based on George's dob. It seems a tad strange ther she'd marry first Augustus Cloud and then Augustus Peebles ??

Tom,
A bit of speculation with no proof.
Martha J. Chaffee may have married August Cloud (L68878 in MyKindred) and George J. Cloud is the son George (L68881).
I have this August Cloud as Augustus "Gus" Cloud b.12/22/1861 In Marion, Grant Co.,IN and then he died 3/3/1891 Calhoun Co.,IA with a son George.
Augustus died young in 1891 and wife Martha remarried Peeples in
about 1896 about five years after his death (per your data).
The year of Martha's 1st husband is a bit off 1865 vs 1861 but the state matches (IN) as does the apparently dying young and Martha available to remarry.
Best guess I can make.
Good luck,
Harley

I noticed that you did your posting in Sept. 2007 and since you haven't received any replies until this one I you and I are the only ones looking for info on the Squire Cloud family.
I have very limited info but did find him in the 1850 Shelby County, AL census with wife Margaret, dau Tabitha (age 13) and dau Caroline (age 0).
In your posting you said Squire's wife's name was Margaret Peggy Sheppard and they were married in 1849. In the Alabama Marriage Collection 1800-1969 I found Squire Cloud being married to Margaret G. Parker in 23 June 1849. What is the source of your Margaret and the date? Also, my thinking right now is that Tabitha is really Fadora's first or middle name because she is the right age later in 1860 and 1870 census showing her as Fadora. I'm researching the McDonald line and I have her married to James Robert McDonald on 18 July 1858 in Shelby County, AL. You and I are thinking alike as I think James Robert was killed in the Civil War.
For some more info on Squire's family take a look on GenFourm in the CLOUD family message board and look at message #285. I have replied to this message but have not heard back yet.
Can you tell me what you have on Squire Cloud and his family as I need all the help I can get. Boy, he is hard to track down.
Thanks,
Adrian Scott

A jury at Muskogee had decided that Miss Hattie Cloud shall returne a $150 engagement ring to Gus Clindt her former lover, since she refuses to marry him. Ordinarily the rings in such cases are freely returned, but this particular ring was dear to the engagee for 150 substantial reasons. For her to keep it would have gone hard with Gus as an angry Cloud had already covered the entire horizon of his hopes.
